  • Palm Trees and Gasoline: The Story of a Miata in LA

    Herrroo Everyone!

As I have recently moved the sunny shores of San Pedro, Ca (its Pedro like, you gotta pee lulz) And acquired my minty fwesh 92 miata (1 owner, book full of receipts from all the way back) I thought I would start a thread. Shes got 98k on the clock, and is all manual, but has the ever so delicious AC

    Necessary ocean pictar

I got a job that puts me where I want to be financially and can actually do this car as I want to without cutting corners. Its going to be a long ride, but by the end, she should be sitting and running pretty sweet sauce.

First day of ownership (washed, claybar, and wax)

Now my plans for this car are as follows:

    1) Fun canyon/coast weekend blaster
    2) Still be a reliable DD if needed
    3) look sexy for the dudes when I cruise in long beach (gotta be poppin dem headlights)
    4) be what I want (MOST IMPORTANT) Im not gonna build this one to please others

Im wanting a meaty look, not only because I like the way it looks, but because that cush life is sooooo gewd

Hence wheel choice (No reps here ****** :p) :

BMW E30 RZ's (or whatever Lemming Wheels copied) size: 14x6.5 et 30

Now I know, they arent super wide, super rare, or super duper anything. But I like them, they are quality, and have so much mesh a mosquito couldnt penetrate them even if it was on Viagra.

    AWWW yea giggity

I put these bad boys on, with their mega dook status super sidewall craptastic tires (awaiting RT615 Ks which will be here tomorrow)

    So wheels are on. Cool.

I live in this car a lot, and while I like the interior, there were a few things Ive wanted to do for a while. So gauges were next (Install was easy, but I kept dust to a minimal) :

    So Tasty, so derricious

The other interior bits I finished today actually. I was waiting on one piece in the mail, and presto, we have a bitchen interior (pardon my dirty floormats, I go outside)

Specs: Nardi Deep Corn, Perforated leather, with red stitching. Real Carbon fiber knob (adds 5 KW) and alcantara (alcantra? who knows) boot.

Thats really where I am at now. I went by Tein to talk about suspension options, and I have a good idea lined up Ill keep you in the loop. Ive got swaybars and poly bushings on it already

Power mods will come after everything else, and are still in the air for what I want to do.

So long and thanks for all the fish

They came on e30s, maybe an equivalent or precursor to the style 5s, but follow the style of the time. They are pretty identical to the BBS RZ's that came on miatas from factory, but are an inch wider
I didnt get the waffles, as my plan is to run the bbs logo centercap in the small hole in the middle.

I wish it looked like that vert lol jk.

Looks like you're making good progress on this already.

Any chance you'll be swapping out those tail lights?

                          Y U NO LOW YET.

In all seriousness, you're off to a great start and the Miata is the perfect car for California. You should do something different with the engine like do a 1.8 swap with itb's and a shaved head for that high compression goodness.
