  • My never ending search for lows.

This first post was from an old intro thread, (just so you know where I've started from)

    -----------------------

    Hi all,

I bought my Mazda Sentia, or as America may know it 929 about mid last year.

It's my daily driver so modifications have been slow but I have a lot of plans.

This is how I bought her.

    Debadged in this pic.

Not a super common car, so it means there isn't a lot of aftermarket for it. But this makes the whole modification process all the more interesting.

I added wheels, 9.5" all around.

After realising my suspension was on its way out I had to come up with a plan to replace it.

Since it was hard enough to get standard replacement shocks, I started researching coil over adjustable suspension, of which there aren't a whole lot of options.

After trolling the internet for what must have been half a year some used JIC's popped up in Australia. I bought them and when I got them found that all the inserts where terrible. The guy I got them from was real nice and gave me a full refund. I used that money to then get them rebuilt. Being JIC's and for a Sentia this wasn't easy.

But finally got a good solution from Russell at GeorgeStock and we replaced them with Koni racing inserts custom made to fit.

    Rebuilt:

Finally got them in and this is how she sits for now.

Plans are to get some spacers to push the wheels out a little...

Further down the track (hopefully this year)

I plan on swapping out the engine and gear box.

Thinking a 1UZFE conversion would be great.

Oh, it's RWD so that should the new engine more fun.

Thoughts , Ideas welcome. I know it's not ground scraping yet. lol

    (also an old post)
Oh yeah, I meant to update this. I got spacers fitted.

    Before

    After

Every thing has been certified too. So now it's fully road legal in New Zealand.

Want less under car gap, but can only really achieve that with 18's and / or a body kit.

Anyway, it's ready to legally cruise for this summer so I am happy.

A recent pic from before the cruise.

I am not a big fan on the style of wheel, but this car is awesome looking! It will make an amazing VIP car.

We only have the 5th gen 929's here in the states, so I've never seen one that looks like this.

        Now for the recent updates.

        I sold the wheels.

Back on stockies but I enjoyed it a bit.

The car was in storage over winter while I saved and collected parts.

I cam across some three piece 17" Japanese wheels labeled only as "rawlings",

They are very similar to other brands but have a pretty low offset of ET 6

I test fitted with some 235's but they were far too chunky.

        Then went down to 205's

        and made it work.

Now because it's on 17's down from the 19's its a lot lower.

That's it for now. Heaps more plans in the works.

I now have a bodykit for next season and some custom made head lights from japan, which I will see if I can make fit.

        New Zealand summer I'm ready!

Thanks man, next time it gets 19's they will be a lot different. I wish the 17's I have now were stepped up to 18. Means I wouldn't scrape soo much on my driveway haha.

First thing i thought when i saw it.

If it was tucking those 19's it would have looked pretty sweet

Haha can't go lower, already get stuck on the driveway. That's the problem with a car with a long wheel base. The middle catches on everything.

(Edit:Whoops that was supposed to be a video.)

Wow this is a cool platform for a vip build. I would love to see the rear radiused with some bigger lips and bagged out.
