Default Five- oh swap into an e30.

Decided to start a new thread, seeing as the direction of my build has changed just slightly

So heres the car I started with:

And heres where the build started.

Picked up the engine, rough, but it was cheap and came with the shorties needed to do the swap:

Got some free parts from a local:

Plug wires,

Oil gauge,

Then got the engine in, but the mounts were incorrect so it sat to the side a bit.

Bought and sol these wheels,

Decided to fix/ strip my shitty dash, still not very good, but spent no money and will be flocking it soon,

Did a quick clean up and spray bomb of the bay,

Bought some gaskets, and a lot of other "freshen up" parts that I don't have pictures of, including polly engine mounts, trans mount and such.

Started mocking up the oil pan, excuse the shitty welds,

Painted the IM my signature color ,

Got a new steering wheel and hub,

Got quick release pins for the hood, and a front sump oil pickup,

Got my extra clutch line in, bell housing bolts, Ford Racing throwout bearing and Summit hat! Still waiting on my hydraulic clutch conversion kit from this order. Its taking longer, as its a special order from Wilwood.

Ok, finally got my engine in with the new mounts,

The cars main use for the past few months

FFFFFFUUUUUUU, wiring,

Hmmmmm...

Then today. Made another trip out to my local-ish Mustang/ Ford parts guy.

Got...

Front exhaust flanges with o2 bungs/ sensors,

Mustang throttle pedal/ cable,

5.0 harness and ecu; going to start labeling and modifying it this weekend,

Maf,

Then an auto zone run!

Insulating tape for gas lines/ electronic bits near the engine,

Switches for fog lights, and rad pusher fan,

Heat wrap kit for the various wiring bits I need to do, also need to grab a new iron,

And how my bench sits now,

Enjoy!

I may be letting a secret out, but dark metallic purple may or may not be the new color come end of summer

And thanks man! I always laugh when I hear "show season" though. I always picture pristine cars, on carpet, in a big hall/ convention center. Then laugh at the sight of my pos in a show like that.

Thank you sir Spent forever picking the right tire size(I like stretch, just not very much on my own car), had no idea if the wheels would even fit, then spent 2 months making them fit haha. Quite sad I sold them, but they were Rota's and I needed the money. Hoping I can get a set of the real things some day...

Updates in the hizzle.

Cleaned up the engine some( still can't tell ), put the painted VC's on, and put my new VC and IM gaskets on.

Finally got the little bolt/ bracket thats meant to hold the dizzy down, as well as some new sensors.

Picked up a hand- rivet gun to do the sunroof delete (function before form )

A new hood pin system.

New, heavy duty shears for various aluminum bits.

Picked up this bad boy, since my t-5 didn't have a knob already on it. The weight is awesome.

Then got trendy with my steering wheel, and started re-priming to paint my floor again.

Should be ordering sound deadening/ insulation this next week, along with a new water pump and the roll bar. My Clutch pedal/ assembly is still on backorder, its supposed to ship the 3rd of April. I'll be tackling wiring and the fabbing the trans mount tomorrow.

My plan is to get this engine in and running, then rebuild another engine with exactly those mods

this is full of win. on3performance turbo kit is only ~1500... that would be a cheap way to have ~450whp (conservatively tuned to preserve the block)

And its not an ebay kit? Good heavens... I my need to build an engine and do this.

Just curious if it will all fit, with the confines of the e30 bay.

At first I thought "eh, just another E30" but the 5.0 is pretty cool.
And a 5.0 and spray goes together like peanut butter and jelly.

Cool build. Going to do H/C/I in the future?
