Woke up one morning, decided i needed another rusted project car...what kind of sick person am I?

Time to SAVE THIS SUBARU!
(Picture heavy )

Picked up this rusted 1995 Impreza L Coupe

This will (hopefully) be an 8 week build. I want to complete this car for WICKED BIG MEET on June 12th. Tomorrow will be the end of week 4 and Im already behind but its still possible to make my deadline. so...finally sitting down, 12:30...here we go.

The only reason I touched this car was because of the JDM swapped engine and transmission from a WRX (EJ20G). The floors are solid but the body is..not.

It took me awhile to decide what I wanted to do. Finally I said "f**k it, go in".
Quick Forza Rendering for Paint Inspiration.
The car will be sprayed again in World Rally Blue (Blue Mica). it was originally Carribean green The Lower Half will be Truck Bed Liner instead of Paint, this lessens the work needed to refine bodywork, and goes with the theme (explained below). I will most likely Spray it according to Subaru's Two tone spray design, even though Im not a fan of the layout..

Went to pick and pull and grabbed some various pieces such as a fuel neck as there was a leak, and this Hood off a 97-01 wagon

Got my old man to slide out the truck for the first time in months and help clean

Hope to finish both before i move in June/July...

The Theme for this car is based on the "Gravel Express" This was a trim level available to WRX wagons in Japan starting in..I believe 95... not much about them they weren't popular.lol These cars had a swinging tire rack in the rear, a push bar in the front and about an inch of lift. My car will be labeled as a gravel express, and while i had hoped to find the original push bar, it is VERY rare...so ill be welding my own in its style.

Back to pics:
MMMMMM New England Cars are my favorite

Attempted to loosen the knuckle bolts and the entire strut ripped out.. scared shitless until i saw the body was fine. Thats a true dropped suspension

Found an AD on NASOIC for parts in Connecticut, was lucky enough to pickup a LOT of parts including and ENTIRE rear end, WRX rear wing, circuit soul shift knob, fuel tank and more..

I knew wiring was a problem when I saw this...
and this...
Now the transmission was the first thing to really be touched, the car came with an exedy clutch kit and lightweight flywheel.

However, the throwout bearing REFUSED to go in, and I had to order ACT's Monoloc Ring..it worked. but this set me back masssively.

Many new nuts and Bolts..process of list writing here.lol

What will set this car apart from first sight is the body, which will be two toned, wide body, and custom front and rear bumpers, side skirts, rearing wing, and a push bar with two sets of lights( possibly lights off my E30)...also a possible change in hood scoop, again custom. So, cue the Plastic welding aand bumper shredding.
OEM front bumper (every swaps to the 97-01 or STI bumpers, No one will have this one )

Difficulty with alignment has made me set it aside for now, however solid progress today has boosted my spirits and Ill go back on it tomorrow. Today: FLOCKED my dash, will finish tomorrw...also attacked rear bumper molding.
[IMG] photo 20160514_1618181_zpsmniws5bw.jpg[/IMG
]

not only will this dash really tie in with the exterior, it was inexpensive and made he original dash more appealing

Valance off of a State Police Charger that fit...like almsot perfectly.haha Finished welding will upload pic tomorrow.

WHERE IM AT NOW:Trying tio keep paragraphs to a minimum. Transmission is in, underneath is mostly undercoated, new nuts and bolts, fuel tank is in, rear end is ready, new brake hoses, Raceland Ultimo coilovers ready to go in, new ball joints, steering rack seal rebuild kit, coontrol arms with ridiculosly expensive aftermarket bushings.. Coating pieces in spray can truck bed liner.. widebody ordered lastnight. The car has 02-03 wrx wheels but Im looking at 17x8 wheels.... Thats it for now!

This is really cool, in my opinion especially the details you use from other cars (mesh grille, valance & so on).

Thanks You guys! Quick Update: STILL BEHIND SCHEDULE
Dash is almost finished, few more pieces like the center console extension and the heating shutters to do.

Heres how the bumper looks, ive got to figutre out the whole dual exhaust thing is going to work...Needs some more smooth-out sanding and prep for paint and coating

Also, got the rear subframe in with the crossbar, (Pic soon) here's the rear calipers and new brake lines

The 2.5RS rear also gave me the rear sway bar, which after using a tap on rusty trheads, bolted right in... wanted to tackle the front bumper today along with some other things but had to go food shopping, and relax to watch Game of Thrones.

P.S. When heating a ball joint to remove the rusted retaining bolt, DO NOT stand over it.. my father had the ball joint expand and shoot out..like literally fire off. heres the hole in my ceiling, like its out of a Tom & Jerry Cartoon!

Those ball joints are fucking bonkers, I always lay a rag or something over top of them when I'm cranking them out

Another late night update: brought to you by thoughts of moving keeping me awake!
This week brought some good progress...and some bad news...and some lack of progress. Lets start with the BAD!

The quarter panels and fenders will probably not arrive in time to make it onto the car, painted, and to the June 12th show....well that sucks some major ass.

Also, beginning this week with a cold and accomplishing little made for a boring week.
The GOOD:
Steering rack re-installed, front end is almost ready for reassembly
New wheels and tires arrived
Finally began work on the front bumper/ reinforcement
[IMG][/IMG]

The front is far more difficult than the rear, but a real centerpiece of this build. Unfortunately I wish I had more but that is all. This upcoming sunday should yeild a good post on progress though! Thanks for the comments you guys...I'll leave you with this obscure bumper cut battleground...
