12-8-2015 - The first night's progress
This is a car that was built beautifully by an older gentleman living in Ventura, CA.
His daughter went off to college and didn't need the car so he claimed ownership
of it and turned it into a monster. A couple years later it was purchased by some
punk kid for around $10,000 who drove it up to Seattle, WA after 8 months.
The kid didn't know what he was doing. He barely maintained it, the oil pan
probably had a quart in it. He even pulled the methanol kit and sold it
because he didn't know what it was.
I bought the car knowing that the motor was in terrible shape, oil was leaking
everywhere, the supercharger needed to be rebuilt, the oil catch can had a
disconnected broken fitting. Car was overheating, the head gasket was
surely going out on the car.
I pulled the front end apart that same night.
Need to change these tail lights and wheels asap - [tips are from a Remus Exhaust system]
My friend Aaron came over to check things out and help me pull off the front end
mmmmmm beautiful
Blade was missing on the SC and has a lot of shaft play, needs a full rebuild
This guy kept everything! Thank God for an organized previous owner
Tie rod was being stubborn and I didn't have vice grips - I filed down the continually rotating stud down to a 9mm hex and spun the stud clockwise to help pull off the steering rack.
The spark plug tubes were filled with oil
The tube gaskets were hardened and broke into pieces
But the cam cover also had a gaping hole in it
Compression was alright and the leak down test was mehh
Documenting all the reciepts, took me hours
Even came with a dyno sheet!
Done for the night

Truely heart breaking seeing a car like this get tortured by someone who doesnt know how to care for it.
Very keen to see what you do with the car.
Also a bit off topic, but a big fan of your videos

For the less important photos I'm gonna try to keep them together to fill up less of the thread
With the ARP Head studs and vanos I needed to pick up some
female E torx sockets E12, E10, and E8 - buy them at Harbor Freight if you can!
I also picked up a 3/8"s air impact driver and a stand for the motor.
I had a hard time being resourceful when it came to removing the
vanos without the vanos wrench. I borrowed some cam blocks from
a friend and did a lot of research - using half of a channel lock to rotate
the "A" (Ausfahrt) cam sprocket clock wise - I then unbloted the front piece
when it rotated far enough and just used a flat head to apply pressure in
the hole of the sprocket prying in an upward motion and the vanos came right off.
Yuck! What you're actually seeing is a CES Lower Compression COPPER Head spacer.
This helps the motor handle the boost by lowering the compression more however the original owner
is telling me what when the car hits enough boost oil will squeeze through the spacer and leak...hmm..
