  • Straight Outta Highschool

Hows it going everyone? So like it says im 18 and this is my first year out of high school. I have had dreams of building a car since I turned 16 and now that I don't have to go to school in fall (taking a year off from college).I figured what better time than now. Also a side note i have little to no experience in cars so progress may be a tad slow.

So for the last year i have been driving this truck and love it to death. Im going to keep it forever. Its 2007 Gmc Sierra 2500HD Duramax with a programmer, full turboback exhaust an intake. Its kinda a sleeper of sorts.

As much as i love my truck i knew that wanted to focus on something else. I had always loved the old bmw's and so a couple weeks ago i bought this.

And Immeadiatly started working on it. First thing i did was shorten those ugly diving boards.
    Before

    and After

So after that i decided to cut the springs down a little bit and her at least a little lower haha.

Pulled the coils out the rear first

    and then started cutting

    ended up with this

So after that i put the rear suspension back in and started working on the front. Cut 2.5 coils off the the front as well.

Put the front suspension back in and now she sits like this.

Also while i was doing this i decided to paint my grilles

So Before all old and faded

    and After all painted up

I have done a couple more things but i forgot to take pictures it was very small stuff like taking off emblems and removing the pinstripe.

Updates will hopefully be frequent and i should be getting some nicer temp wheels soon and hopefully real coilovers. I have a lot of plans for this car hopefully i can get all of it done. Also let me know if i should resize my photos haha i know they are kinda big.

Good start. way to go with the bumpers, easiest modification for these cars and it drives me nuts when people dont do it. Looking forward to progress.

I think he reminds a lot of us of us right outta high school. Good car choice, and I like what's been done so far. Don't tell my MB friends, but I secretly want a 535i E28.

So i saw my brothers m3 wheels laying in the back of the garage today so i decided to maybe throw them on there and see how the size looked. Any i gotta stay 18's are defiantly too big haha. But that being said i found some 17's im going to get this weekend. Also ordered new trunk and hood emblems so thats cool. Should have some pictures by the weekend.

So did a little work on the car today. I cant stand these diving boards so i decided to take them off. Welll until i can afford euro bumpers maybe.

So the bumpers came off very easily

Then i had to cut these little tabs off

Then came actually mounting the molding. It was pretty easy just had to drill a pilot hole for all the screws. This is what it looks like now

I still need another bumper to complete the back. Also gonna try and figure out how to do something with the bummper shock holes. Maybe just try and weld them up. I havent touched the front yet. I still dont know if i want to do it like that in the front or just leave it. thats all i have for now but more updates in the near future.

I love E28's.. One day I think I might buy one, but already have 2 cars, and you can't have everything.

Too bad they have those diving boards in the US indeed. Euro bumpers look so much better.

I also hope those cut springs are just a temporary sollution, doesn't really sound safe to me, as you probably just kept the stock shock absorbers?
