  • The Transformation of the Granny Car. MK4

Well this has been a long time coming.

I have been prowling on stanceworks for a year of two now getting inspiration.

My Name is Mathew and I am a Volkswagen JUNKIE from South Africa.

My first real car was a Golf MK1 CTI (not CITI) it was a limited edition MK1 golf that came out with the MK1 GTI motor but with a lot of added things such as leather seats and aircon to mention a few.

This is how she looked before a regrettably sold her, sorry not many pictures were taken.

    The period of BBS.

The period of her 8j steelies plastidipped white.

I got the car back after it was stolen for about 4 to 5 years and rebuilt the whole car, many a motor entered and exited her in sometimes a GLORIOUS fashion. some exploded and some just gave up eventually.

After a while I got sick of the MK1 flaws and RATTLES!

so I decided to buy a more "Grown up" car.
This is how she looked after a day or two after owning her.

The couple days I had her I had gotten new wheels and as we all know, as soon as the wheels come on the lows follow so I decided to go with BC's.

In the impatient wait for the BC's to get shipped all the way to South Africa I did some MS paint work.

The set on the right was for my mates car.

Ive recently had them installed and ive already ran into an issue. The rear perches are all the way down and im still a "high flyer".

Regarding this issue any input is welcome.

So as promised here are some more photos.

In the week coming up I am going to get the rear as low as I want.
The front has seem to of settled since these photos were taken and has subsequently gotten lower.

      Enjoy...

This is the front. I can still get a bit more lows but im already scraping on ever little stone on the road.

Seems pretty high in this photo but its probably the height of my FOB horizontally.

This is the rear that refuses to drop.

Going to take the perch lockers out this weekend coming up its driving me insane!!!

Plans for the Golf are going slower than planned.
Should have the car bottomed out this weekend.

Having A LOT of trouble getting the rear to get to the height I want it at, I honestly thought that BC would of been the best option, clearly not.

SO ive let the suspension settle in now and the front has dipped a bit but the rear is KILLING ME!

I cant get it any lower with the perch in with the lockin collars. this weekend my mates and I are having a LOW day. Ill be taking photos so hopefully the next post wheel gap will be a thing of the past.

                Ill just leave these here.

After taking the locking collars out.

So i took off the silly yellow Laminex after a traffic officer politely advised me to []

After a day or two it grew on me.
