  • 64 volkswagen notchback

Already made an intro, but for those who haven't seen it my name is Scott. I'm from Virginia and I'm building a frame off notchback. This is my first project and quite a big task. It has a 1915cc motor in it and a stock transmission. I plan on painting it a non oem/era correct color, but keep a stock interior(tan and cream)

I was given the car as a gift and this is how it came.

I've had all the body parts including the frame and floor pans sandblasted. Frame and pans are painted black. Fenders and doors have shaved moldings and markers.
Next thing to be done to the body is the cab few rust spots here and there and fixing the sunroof the p/o put in.

A friend and I are going to build a front air beam. Already have a slam specialties SS-6 bag for it just need to fab some things up.

I also have a rebuilt transmission in the mail from Geno's Aircooled.

As far as wheels I haven't come up with anything I like. Maybe just stock wheels just a little wider. If you know of anyone who does this let me know. Or some gotti wheels.

Any input or help is greatly appreciated.

Nice! I love Notchbacks that arent the typical stock restoration. Way too many notchback owner are the "purist **** anything not origional" types.

Yeah I have noticed that there are a lot of purists. But Im young, its my car, my money, and vision. Hope I get some stuff rolling here within the next few weeks.

Just got my transmission back from being rebuilt. Hopefully have some of the beam fabbed up this weekend and body work done.

Thanks man. I hope it turns out as well as I see it. I need to find some wheels to go with the car.

Please keep in mind that I'm using an iphone not a camera, so sorry if the pictures suck.

Here's a better view of the floorpans and such.

And pictures of the cab so you have an idea with what I'm working with. Not too bad for a 64. Luckily I have a nice neighbor who is helping me take this to the shop.

Some gay guy parked his gti in the yard.

Worst rust spot on the car, it was covered with tape when I got it.

Crap patch I payed 200 for, not what I expected to get.

                          Beat up fender well.

Image doesnt want to flip right so turn your screen sideways if you care enough.

Finally got my car to my friends shop, hope to get some progress done during these days off.
This should be her home for a week or so.
