Something something something dark side.
Hello all,
First of all sorry for the long winded post i promise there is a light at the end of the tunnel.Well i figure its about time to stop and make a build thread from my beetle. To give a back story the car was bought as a beater by my father in the early 90's. From the time my father bought it he proceeded to make the already sad looking car into a multicolored mess (because of multiple fender benders). Although sad and beat down it had quite the past, she had taken many forms in the past owners hands. From a stock form it was turned into a drag car which further took it down the road to a sad looking vehicle, from there it was turned into a semi urban baja car which is where the photos and stories start to make sense. Enough about the past, i had been told from my early years that the sad pile of remaining Volkswagen was to be mine which brought me to love my best friend forever. So after many modifications and changes through the years of my ownership it brings me to todays build thread. Today i took it out and instantly fell in love with it all over again after its two year hiatus. Sorry for the boring story on with the pics!
Here she is in 1986 according to the back of the picture found in the glove box

After sitting in the barn since 1993 i started work in 2003 starting with the new front end. Here she is after being pulled out of its grave.

Tons of body work and a new front and rear apron later she saw her first coat of paint

then a touch of color

Here she is all put together

A poor paintjob and a drunken night later i decided to strip it all the way down and chemically, all of the paint. Awful idea

Despite the awful idea it turned out for the good bringing her to this state.

Then my whole life changed i met a bunch of great guys from this site that i have to say changed my veiw of car culture and the true meaning of family(you know who yall are)
anyways here she sits now!
Questions comments and criticism welcome!

Plans are turbo and modifying the front control arms so i can go a tad lower. Right now the steering box and the lower control arm are less than an inch apart, scary!

Have you thought about a swapping a standard beetle frame head on? I've seen some conversion kits on thesamba.com for this.
