I have been following StanceWorks for some time now but never had the courage to post a build thread up... After a bit of encouragement from my pal Josh ( UK Bagged E46) i thought i would give it a shot! Hope you enjoy the read, sorry that its soooo long lol.
Here goes,
I bought the car way back in Oct 2008..
It was running Schmidt TH-Lines 15x7.5 front 15x8 rear with a smoothed handle on the boot and two grilles smoothed off the 16v front bumper, other bits have been smoothed like door sills and sills behind rear lights. The car was also running 6n2 red rears and clear indicators at the time as well. And of course you cant miss the colour coded Thule roof box
That was when I first got the car, then I decided to change a few things around to make it my own.
So off to the body shop it went for a touch up!
Got a US spec Tailgate form a close pal of my Mr Phil Tighe! and smoothed the handle off, I also had the number plate recess smoothed off the front bumper also purchased a HID H4 6k kit which got fitted at the same time.
The car stayed that way for some time, then I decided to change the wheels as I still didn't feel like it was my car.
And after a long long chat with a close mate he managed to get me in touch with a chap who had his old wheels. I also went for a set of crystal powerlook headlights and indicators running a HID H7 6k kit.
Work Equip 03's
Front - 15x8 et 22 185/45/15 tyre
Rear - 15x9 et 20 195/45/15 tyre
The polo then stayed that way for sometime, then changed a few things:
Opted for a mk5 polo GTi splitter
Fitted a Momo Team 280mm
Standard front orange indicators
6n2 euro spec red left hand rear light.
I then had a photo shoot for FastCar magazine last summer. J-EURO yO!
Then once the mag was published I set out making a few more changes:
Went back to standard headlights - set up as running lights
Fitted a gold snap off boss steering wheel boss
HEKO wind deflectors
Standard VW badged grille
The splitter was wrap with 3M carbon but didn't last very long due to speed bumps
Got hold of some 16v front fogs which i wrapped with yellow Lamin-X
Fitted JAP/US spec rear lights
Broadway rear view mirror
Converted from wheel bolts to wheel nuts - Currently running Gold lightweight tuner wheel nuts
The front is 25mm lower now but apart from that this is where the car is at now, I was aiming for a JAP inspired theme but there are a few polo's going through that phase that I have decided to go for something new.
Hopefully with the plans I have in mind I will manage to pull it off here are a few of the plans but the rest of them are a close kept secret between a handful of pals:
Repair smoothing on tailgate
Get rid of rust on all arches, both side sills and sills under rear lights
Side skirts (maybe)
Polish Work Equip 03's
Few carbon goodies
MK3 Golf VR6 Black leather rear bench with headrests
Black suede door pillars and headliner
With the plans I have in mind they will all be taking place over the winter, and will be ready in time for Ultimate Dubs! And i have just secured and inside spot
Latest Update!!
I am now running 185/45/15 Nankang NS-II tyres all round now, so i have achieved some serious stretch out the back but for a very good reason, as your about to see!...
So my day started at 3:45am two sundays ago, me and a few mates made a little road trip up to Hastings to go pick up my polo.
I dropped the car off just over two weeks ago, so i was itching to get the car back!
I will let the pictures do the talking for now...
So i have had an Air Ride kit supplied and installed by HavAir, the kit consists of 2 Compressors, Front and Back Electronic Valves, 3L tank and a chassis notch.
Geoff and James from HavAir have done an awesome job! Couldn't have asked for a better service, there answer any queries that you got and make the kit to sit your needs.
Would highly recommend these guys if your wanting to go down this route.
Hope you enjoy the newest update and keep your eyes pealed as there is more to come.
Hopefully I haven't bored you with all the pics and details, and I hope you like the progress so far.
Peace Out.
