  • Which tyre for a smooth stretch:)

    Hello guys,

next summer i need new tyres. And I want new dimensions of the tyres for a smooth stretch.

    My currently Tyres Specs are:
    Front: 225/40 R18 on a 18x8j
    Rear: 255/35 R18 on a 18x8.5j

I'm planning to use following dimensions:
    Front: 205/40 R18 on a 18x8j
    Rear: 225/40 R18 on a 18x8.5j

    Now i have following questions:
    1. Is my calculation correct?
    2. Which brand and model of tyre is the best one for stretching?

With these tires you wou't have much stretch...
I had a 205 that was almost wider then a 215.., so it really depends what brand they are.

Try out tyrestretch.com for some reference pics...

Also are you aware of the front tire beeing almost 16mm smaller then the rear...

If you have to run the 205/40 up front you'll need a 235/35 for the rear, if you have to
keep the 225/40, a 215/40 or 205/45 will be the best posible match...

Germany doesn't like it if you seedo shows incorrect speeds, AWD car don't like that at all...

        18x8j i'd would say go for a 195/35/18.
        18x8.5j go with 205/40/18
stretch will be mild and not to severe.only problem you may encounter is speedo errors.
if you want something more on the meaty side then 18x8j- 205/40/18 and 18x8.5j- 215/40/18.
http://www.willtheyfit.com/ - try this site for your setups see what suits you most.
and for your question on which is the best brand for stretch - there is no definite answer but some good makes are nankang,falken,accelera..

tyrestretch.com and willtheyfit.com are your best tools when looking for a new set up. tyrestretch.com shows you how the tires look, willtheyfit.com helps you figure out offset, width, etc.
