Speed. The feeling of time accelerating as force propels in motion your very being. A constant state of change as every sense in your body is heightened in anticipation of the next second that passes. Speed is something that is sought after like a drug, igniting dormant endorphins that create an unmatched visceral experience. When sought with respect, it can be euphoric; when abused, it can be detrimental.
This is London. Early in the morning. Far too early. The reason for waking up at an ungodly hour on a Sunday? Players Show 5.0 had landed.
Players Show is in it’s fifth year and is fast becoming the show to attend to see the best cars the UK has to offer. There are several reasons why if you can, you should definitely get yourself down to a Players in the future.
First off is the setting.
It’s rare that I’ve got the chance to shoot anything other than drifting it seems this year. The sheer number of events we’ve been treated to this season have meant that whenever a non-drift weekend comes along I like to make the most of it by spending time at home with my family or generally doing something altogether non-car-related.
This put me in an interesting juxtaposition this weekend. The British Drift Championship takes place on Sunday only for this round.
Last weekend, Milton Keynes was host to another fantastic Stanceworks UK meet. Organised on the forum, and promoted via Facebook and word of mouth, this diverse meet unified a number of car styles that wouldn’t usually share the same space. The result was a massively chilled out afternoon with automotive enthusiasts checking out cars they wouldn’t normally get to see at their usual genre specific car shows/meets.
We and the fellas at Drifted have been talking a good while about the idea of working together in creative ways that could not only help each community grow but to bring about some great collaborations.
