  • Raising Junior: A video build

    Hi guys, some of you might remember the build thread I had about the car below, A 68 Mercedes W115 on airbags, I built back in 2013/14;

I still have the Merc and I just started a new project that requires more work.....a lot more work, its basically a ground up resto. The car is a 67 Alfa Romeo Gt Junior 1300. I'm not gonna bag it or so, just give the weekend racer look; stripped bumpers better seats and lowered a little retaining the 'sprint car' stance. Hope you guys enjoy it, and I can keep filming each step as it takes a lot of work!!

Here's what the car looked like before the previous owner stripped it.

    Video Here:

Episode1 - Bottom's upIn the first episode I introduce 'Junior', a car that I bought as an unfinished project a previous owner started restoring. The car is ...

Damn dude, u own my dream cruise car, W114, in the perfect color bronze/brown
My father has a Alfa Bertone stepnose from 1968 with the original 1300 engine with some mods, (big cam with more lift, high comp pistons, bigger valves and ported head, lighter flywheel, polished crank, bigger cylinders, etc etc)
            Looking forward seeing this done.

What can I say, you and your dad have good taste in cars

Any pics of his Alfa? it sounds like a lot of fun with those engine mods. I still don't have an engine and box for mine, they were missing when they imported the car

Progress has been moving forward on project raising junior...This is the look I am aiming for:

This car was built by 'the Singer' of Alfa Romeos, Alfaholics. I'm going more after the look rather than the all out updated racing mechanicals this car has, oh just not in red

Traced out a template of the recess I need to copy:

Removed the old right rear floor pan that was held by a mix of rottens steel, layers of thick sheets crudely welded on and the factory spot welds on the inner side

                Alfa peek-a-boo

All this and more in the second episode of Raising Junior, which we're currently working on

No one is really watching this thread but here goes episode 2 of the series:

Episode 2 - Fold and PressThe rotisserie we made in episode 1 is already proving itself very useful. We are starting the body restoration by removing the old...

Thanks...it seems like most people weren't interested here, maybe because its an unusual car or suspension work is very far ahead

There are many in depth and unique build threads here that get passed over because they aren't a Honda, BMW, or other cliche build with stupid fitment.

Hell, threads about ratty BMW E30's that get more views than White Out's Murcielago and Viper thread.

Just know that there are some of us that are very interested in this kind of build, and you should keep it up! I think it's great your daughter is going be be raised around cool cars and a dad that knows how to fabricate.

Thanks, yeah I wanted to make a proper restoration. I find a lot of tv shows and so on are entertaining but when you look into their work they're just made for tv, throw a carpet over a rusty bottom and paint over a bunch of filler so it looks good.

Julia is my niece and she lives in a different country and was visiting when we were filming this episode. We'll see how old she is when the car is on the road It was fun filming that bit with all the family. My sister was the cookie thief haha

                            Love it!
We are just wrapping up out build of a 73 gt junior, that has snowballed into something crazy. Look forward to see what you end up doing.

Here is a teaser build of the progress we have made.

That's really cool, are you running a Nissan motor?

I'm going for a milder route, I want to find and original twin cam motor and box, ideally a 1750cc. Nothing against motor swaps but these cars are becoming mega money cars so might as well keep it mostly original. I love their twin cam motors too, they're beautiful, sound good and they're quick

I want to go for a weekend racer look, no bumpers, possibly a GTA look front end and I have an awesome interior from a slightly later Alfa that had Zagato seats as standard.
