  • Mercedes CLK W209 on those rubber bag things

    I thought I'd upload a friend's 2006 Mercedes Benz CLK500 that I just finished building.
I apologize but I don't have a fancy camera so these photos will have to do! I do have pictures of the whole build process but most people are just interested in the final product haha.

    BEFORE

    AFTER

    Snagged this one off instagram

    Wheels:
Matte Black TSW Nurburgring Staggered (Front 19x8.5 Rear 19x9.5)

    Suspension:
Air Lift AutoPilot V2 Digital Management Kit
    Viair 400cc Compressor
    1/4" Air Line
(Front) Universal Air Lift Bag-Over Strut
Fabricated front spindle mounts & Top Mounts
(Rear) Firestone 9000 Tapered Sleeve bag
Fabricated rear control arm cups and upper mounting cups

A look at how the Front Struts looked after fabrication

We wanted it a bit lower in the front so a front chin spoiler was added afterwards.

I also deleted the exhaust resonator and installed an Eisenmann Race Muffler.
The whole job took a lot more effort then I expected and now I understand why they don't make kits for this chassis!
If I get a hold of a better camera I can upload some more shots and a video of the air and the exhaust noise.

And it's about time we get started on adding some real horsepower to that V8 but that'll be a little later down the road

Nice. Did you cut the mounts off an oem strut?

PS looks awesome. Are ya considering wider wheels in the future? :x

Yes I cut off the mounts from the OEM Strut and transferred them over. That wasn't really too tough because I was able to match them up side-by-side.
I also had to drill out the cups that were plug welded into the strut tower itself. That's really what took most of the time in the fronts.

I kind of feel the same, we purchased the wheels before the install. I'll probably throw some spacers on in the future. I feel like the fronts are pretty good but the rears need some spacing out.
The front fenders are sitting on the wheel when its aired out so I don't really want a bigger wheel

This has so much potential, but the wheels don't do it justice. Just my 2c.

Looks dope just space the rear wheels a bit and it'll look perfect.

This could be so much more with aggressive fitting wheels. Still love it either way!

Thanks for the input! For now I'm going to order some spacers for the rear. I do agree they need to sit farther out. I'll look into wheels in the future.

                        Any ideas on wheels?
