  • BMW E39 540i 20inch 6 speed "the original"

    Hello girls and boys

I am Mo from germany, and I really like your style!

I like rebuilding and have lots of fun in doing that!

But my headline is more the moderate than the extreme. My passion is the realisation at second glance....
What BMW designers forgot to implement into the E39 program, for example lots of the 7-series extras-list or those of other BMW models, I took care of to add it to my cars project.
But some of the added extras prevented others from beeing implemented.

In the mid of 2008 I bought my E39 540iA after I had a really bad accident with my former owned E39.
After crawling out of the totally wrecked car without the slightest scratch, it had to be an E39 again!

Sure everything had to be different this time
And I sweared to my wife to change nothing but the wheels and lower the car a bit....
The extras list was long and nice to read, the former owner had done it right and the car was here to stay.
Buuuuut.....: that state of mind didnt last all that long and finally a few modifications were done....

Most of the things I retrofitted are of other BMW models and were reworked to fit my E39. Most of it (except the paintjob) I did myself.
Some examples of how I work: I only use original BMW wiring harnesses nothing else. The rear headrests only start moving up after the passenger has fastened the seatbelt.
The raer seatheating has been made of OEM X3 heating mats, wiring harness of the E38 7-series and switches oft the E53 X5.
Lordose pillows were completely taken from E38 7-series.

Since the E39 is an almost perfect car in my eyes, I didnt change the obvious. Instead I tryed to stay inside by most of the upgrades. And so I like it very much, when most of the poeple that look at my car just recognize the fine incredients just at second glance unless they are reeeeeeeal experts....

    But see it your own....

Hi Mo! Welcome to Stanceworks. I'm glad to see you here. Your ride is the best OEM+ e39 I have ever seen. Your modlist is awesome. I'm looking forward on your next upgrades. It will be hard because you have there almost everything, but I know, that you will invent something. Those Vossen looks realy sick on your car! You can do perhaps something with fitment and you will be der Chef Klipp & Klar

MO my friend! Your car is by far the premier class. Your ideas and perfect execution impress me again and again. I'm curious what will come all.

Your house construction will prevail at the moment, but again, you do everything perfectly and this takes time.

Although i am not a fan of the wheels, everything else is breath taking.

I would kill a man for those seats with vanity mirros and rear tray tables. Are they from a individual 7 series?

                      Mo... Wunderbar Mein Freund!

You have inspired me with my build project. I have a 2003 540iT that I am slowly modifying and like all the stuff you have done to your touring.

I have 19' Style 65's on it at the moment and I have actually the E38 Contour seats with Vanity mirrors on it.

Would you be able to share some details on some of the customization you did like the 6 - speed transmission. I have all the parts from an M5, but I am not sure about wiring and programming because here we cannot have the SES light on.

I will post pictures of my car when I can.... I can't I think because I am a new member.

                        Really nice.

One thing though, this gear stick is really too long IMO.

Good on you for attempting and completing this project!

You need the transmission from the M5, the dual mass flywheel on 540i 6 speed and the best coupling of the M5.
The Cardan, the M5 differential lock, and the M5 driveshafts I have built with the same.
Pedals, clutch master and shift linkage you need too.
You have to bypass the relay for automatic start and still draw a wire from the ignition switch to the EWS.
Then re-encode the cart and everything has been running. The encoding is the simplest!

I'm looking for some pictures of the tag!

                            @ Zacne_4,

                            yes, you're right!
