  • BMW 2002 M20 Turbo

    Hello all,

I have a 1976 BMW 2002 Sahara. Plans for the summer are to lower the car, new engine and transmission and all new suspension. The interior of the car is already in really good shape so that is going to stay the same. Hopefully will be able to finish everything this summer while school is out.

    Already done:
    BMW 14" Basketweaves
    Air dam and euro bumper
    Recaros / new interior
    Wilwood Brakes
    Steel Brake Lines
    Sway bars

    Plans:

    Engine: M20B27I, 55lb injectors
    Turbo: Garrett GT3071R
    Transmission: Getrag 260
Suspension: Groundcontrol coilovers, urethane bushings, ST anti-sway bars
    Exhaust: Magnaflow exhaust
Lights: New headlights and euro turn signals
Brakes: Wilwood 4 piston rear brakes
Chip: W.A.R Chip and MAF conversion

Few photos from a BMW meet:

Thanks, many people get rid of Sahara but, I want to keep it stock and it shows of the curves of the car.

Thanks. Will be rebuilding it and turboing next summer when I get the cash for it. Better than a M20B25 so why not? Also more unique.

I dig it and already full of potential.

For the rear brakes (on the cheap) you could do some vw brakes:

I have a confession: I am terrible at adjusting brake drums. No matter how many times I try, I always seem to end up with dragging brake sho...

I say keep the color, everyone is always getting rid of this color, wish my recaros were leather like yours haha. Is your weber a 32/36 or a 38?

Currently running a 32/36 but, it will soon be discarded for the M20. Yeah I agree Sahara is becoming more rare, you either like it or you don't and I like it.

Thanks, hopefully it will become what I am wanting it to be.

That is pretty sweet. I am gonna have to run down to the local german wrecking yard and see if they have these parts. Seems much better than doing the 320i drums. Thanks for the link and info!

Nice on the M20! I've decided to stick with the M10 on mine and go dual carbs, just love how they look haha.

Yeah they do look amazing and are bulletproof! I am going to be needing an engine rebuild and new transmission soon so just decided to go with the M20B27I because of the power and the possibility of getting even more in the future.
