Damn I look old for my age though When I was 17 my mom was shopping for an SUV and I was out with her at the BMW dealership looking at the X3. I had to go to my hockey game later that day and was dressed in my mandatory shirt and tie. A couple of people actually mistook me for a salesperson and we're asking me to show them cars.
Its worth a try; I need a job.

In your opinions how much is it about knowing how to sell/being a people person vs. knowledge of the product?
Last summer I worked for a car-sharing non-profit and one of my tasks was to find a new car to add to the fleet. The car salesperson I was referred to by my boss was literally retarded on the topic of cars (tried to recommend to me the all-electric Toyota Prism, told me the Routan was a completely new vehicle unrelated to the Caravan). I realize most buyers are the same way and wouldn't notice these mistakes, but as an enthusiast hearing these things, it irritated me.
I feel like my knowledge of the product could be conveyed not in statistics and other numbers but rather stories of my familiarity with dubs. Story selling.

Being a people person is far more important, knowledge of the product is something (in my experience) a lot of car salesmen lack.

Yup. They're job is to sell everything they can to you and hype up what they can offer more than the car. Most cars sell themselves anyways, status symbols more than anything.
