  • Burgundrot E28 524td restoration

This is the story of my -83 BMW 524td restoration!

My car is a original 1983 524 turbodiesel with automatic gearbox and 88 000 km on the counter, Burgundrot metallic, and black/grey fabric interior..

former owner of the car is a old couple who had the car since the car was new, then an acquaintance of me bought it from them, had it for some years until he crashed it
after a while i bought the wreck of him to get it a new life!

these cars are very rare with that engine.. i looked it up at the registration office, and it turned out to be only 15 registered 524td left in norway..

so I decided to give it a full restoration.. plus some more!

when i got it to my workshop, it looked like this:

    rust on the jack mount

    new parts from bmw

and got it back from the body shop:

now is the car fixed after the crash.. next is getting all the rust go bye bye

    more to come..

              hey! thanks you all

ive done a lot more work than i post here! but in another thread so i just gonna lay out some pictures of the procedure so far

here is the wheels i was planing to use on the car! but sold them to use the money on another wheel project, which i will show you later

              oh well.. here they are

              But! back to the car!

i made this car tilt, to get easier access under the body..

now it is easy to get the body from washing to sandblasting, welding and painting..

here i am steaming too get off the rust protection.. crappy job!

              now a bit welding!

it is alot more work behind this.. but i just show you a bit of it..!

              next time:

                      thank you all!

now im gonna show you a bit of my painting :P

id used the 3M body protection structure, and 2 component epoxy priming...

and then.. i paint with a `harder` non metallic paint.. it was hard to find the exact similar color to the Burgundrot metallic.. but i think it matches enough..

the color is a bit darker in real life than on the pictures i ensure you

With the amount of work you've put into just the rust removal, I am anxiously awaiting for where this build will go. Props to you man because I probably should do all of the things you are now.

woah now that is dedication! many people wouldve scrapped the car in the condition you received it in especially with all the rust. I give you props. and cannot wait to see more updates
