Long time lurker...
Been lurking a while but only just signed up :]
From Beds/Cambs direction, UK.
Don't currently drive anything that special, just an 86c polo bread van, but have a car in mind for my next that's very different :P

S'all about the UK haha! :] was hoping there'd be some more on here, maybe someone who could help me get some cheap front coilies for the polo. I think it's got to be the lowest non-coily polo about right now that hasn't had the dreaded 'cut springs' but it's just not good enough :P

Just had a quick look at your Sitting Pretty facebook group. Arent the Mk3 Polos abit of a pain for coilovers as the front struts and hubs are one unit?

Yep that's it :[ hoping to get some second hand ones really, as long as they've been well looked after!
You can get crap TA Technix coil overs for like £500 for them, but I'd rather run on good quality springs and be higher than something that awful. I found some I liked but they were £1800 which is a bit much considering the car cost me £450! :O
I've managed to get it down to 100mm on the front with 85mm lowering springs and 15mm lowering top mounts, also camber adjustable, and kept the rear at 70mm cuz I absolutely despise reverse rake and Polos are terrible for it! :[

£500 for TA technix, ouch! Looks like second hand is your best bet. My mate has a G40 and I know he waited around for a while for second hand units and they came along eventually. Although you're down 100mm already which is pretty good going

Haha yeah I don't know anyone that low without coil overs or cut springs on a Polo! :P I've been waiting 3 and a half years for some coilies but they never come up as nobody tends to spend any money on them, always see the TA Technix pop up but I wouldn't waste my money on them tbh. I want it to look good, and yeah granted it isn't fast, but I still want it to ride nice and handle round corners, while looking good haha :P

My wheels cost me £100 :P and they're probably one of a few sets left in that size now, mini or Ginetta kids would go mad for them but nobody else knows what they are haha!
Cannot find centre caps for them anywhere though :'[

Thank yoooou :]
Think it's time I put up pictures of my rides? haha
This is joint ownership but pretty cool...
I also have a vintage Raleigh Stowaway 3 speed in metallic army green, white walls and all, but I'm thinking of selling it as I never use it :[
And I have a Polo which I'm getting some photos done of tomorrow so will post those up once they're finished - they're pretty hard to stance with the price of coil overs but think I've done pretty well considering the dodgy rear arches and et13 mini-special wheels ;]

Welcome to the site!! I had a 86C GT Coupe as my first car, loved it. Car was so basic inside which made it enjoyable to drive, even when slammed they don't seem to rattle or squeak as much as the interior of mk4 Golfs!! I know a guy who had a 86C breadvan and stripped the back seats out, removed rear windows and put in colour coded plastic panels, then put laminate floor in the boot. It was on ATS Classics and had Coca Cola logos in the side windows. Think it was on ClubPolo but haven't been on in 4 years!! Get some pics up!

What I think you should do is... Put different wheels on the Polo and sell it, then sell the wheels that you took off for mega moneez to the Mini purists and then what you get in total buy something that you can stance proper. You know it makes sense

Yeah they're so fun! Mines stripped out with a floor in the back, can't have people in the back anyway due to lows and offset of the wheels so made sense! Just got a small sub built into the back, 2 speakers behind the seats, and a box opposite the sub thats identical for cleaning products haha! I want to respray mine, get rid of the fun windows and put some more serious tinted dealies in there :]

:P it would make sense but I couldn't part with it, it's been too good to me haha!
This is my little car, it's nothing on any of the cars on here, just a bit of fun until I can afford something serious! It goes well for a 1ltr though! 90mph uphill ent bad!!!!

Awesome looking car!
Trust me, I can understand your problem when it comes to suspension! Being a W124 owner, I either have to go bags, cut springs or a complete e36 coilover conversion, which is expensive as all hell!
I always say I am going to sell it, but as soon as I get somebody interested I pull out of selling it because I love the damn thing to much!
Respect for 90mph up a hill!

Yeah it is! When you say tried to click did you mean to add me? I get like 10 friend requests a day so the majority of them I just ignore unless I have over 100 mutual friends :[
When / where is this meet then?
