hmm, interesting ways to clean up wheels and hardware...I like your style.. I'm in for updates!

I think those wheels will look amazing! What are your ideas for the color of the faces?

Nice progress dude, your photography looks good as well although the pictures do look a little scrunched or something

I've definitely been on the hunt for a 20th GTI as well as an E46 coupe at some point or another throughout the last few years, and I'm refinishing a set of style 5's myself at the moment. Was that single can of Jasco enough to strip all the lips?

Your coupe looks really clean though, and I can't wait to see what you end up doing with the wheels!

Silver, white, and gold should be the only options.

I put the panels back on just didn't upload a picture as I thought no one would care enough to see a trunk.

I used one can, I just globed a lot of it on there to eat the paint off faster. And once it had hardened I used a rough sponge to take off the dried up stripper.

I'm not really a fan of black wheels at all but I'll photoshop a picture of it just to see how it looks.

Yeah... I wish I got a 330ci over a 323ci but all the 330's had over 120k miles and it seemed wiser to get a car with almost half that.

your wheels will always have that cloudy look to them thanks to the 1500 sandpaper. pretty standard mistake that a lot of people make. looks like a nice start tho

There is a "cheaters way" to polishing lips since you are doing it in your bedroom... Use sanding blocks use rough, medium, fine, and very fine grit, also use mothers mag and aluminum polish wayyy better than turtle wax.

And anyways everything is pretty much the same interior/exterior between the two cars, they just have two diffrenent engines. I don't plan on racing anyways so it is no biggie in my book.

I used the turtle wax to get rid of the finer scratches and it worked out great! When I had to go back a fix a small blemish with 1500 grit it made a noticible difference from where I used used the polishing compound and the sandpaper. I then used paint thinner to take the turtle wax off and then finished them off with Mother's Mag and Alliminum Polish.

Should I go to finer grit sandpaper to make it more mirroresque?

Once I get back from Mexico I plan on ordering some ST Suspension coilovers. Any suggestions though? I'm looking to spend about $1000 or less.

no the finer the sand paper the worse the clouding. its why you can almost always tell someone who polished at home and someone who paid a pro. one looks nice and shiny, the other looks like chrome. get a tight and loose buffing wheel and get some GOOD brown tripoli and pink or white jewelers rouge. use the tight wheel with the brown and then the loose wheel with the jewelers rouge to finish. you can stop at 800. with a quality buffing machine ive seen people stop at 600 grit.

looks almost as good as my in-room refinish.

vinegar is also a good alternative to coke for the bolts/nuts.
