Default My car that looks fast but isn't...

Hey, how's it going StanceWorks. I figured I would throw up a "Build" thread for my car. I have an 04 Toyota Celica GT so don't **** too much, I know it's slow and not too popular in the stance scene.

With this car I am going for just looks since I know it isn't fast and I don't plan on ever doing a motor swap so it will never be fast.

Sorry for the few grass shots. I can't find any others.

Here she is when I first got her. I believe that was around June of 2010,not sure though. 100% stock with 55,000 miles. I was trying to drive in the clouds, that's why there is so much wheel gap.

After a little while I got some TRD lowering springs(Did not go anywhere near low enough), a TRD fuel door, a TRD exhaust, some fogs, did some debadging, and I managed to break my front bumper. Its hard to see in the pictures but there are large cracks on each side of the lower grill. The first pic you can see the zip ties.

Then I picked up my BC Coils and cranked them down what I thought was most of the way.

HellaSunk yo!

Then I got my rims. 17x9 Varrstoen Style 2. Yes I know they aren't legit rims but they didn't break the bank. I also got some Powered by Max lugs since I had never heard of anyone using them and I wasn't 100% sure if I wanted to spend the $200+ on the Kics Neo Chromes.

Mounted some 215/40 Falken 912s on them. Love the stretch these give.

And then here we are now. 2 years and 30,000 miles later. I have cranked my coils all the way down which was about half a turn more than before. Efff.

Right now my plans for it are to get the front bumper replaced here within a week or so. I have the lip in the mail I just need to go to the stealership to pick up the new bumper and get it painted. Hopefully within the next week my extreme drop kit from BC will get here so I can get my car to a proper height.

Also, I plan on removing the giant rear spoiler on the back that a few of you cringed about when you opened this thread. I just haven't done that yet since there are 8 very large holes under the extremely strong adhesive that I will have to fill in and get painted. That will hopefully happen when I get the front bumper painted.

Further plans:
BBS LM's 18x9 and 18x10.5
JDM Sidemarkers
OEM HID Headlights
Spacers
And whatever other trinkets I find along the way.

I think that is pretty much all my plans for it so thanks for hanging in there and at least looking at all the pictures. Let me know what you think.

Seriously, GTFO. Just because your build thread got flamed on so hard to the point where you went and deleted all the photos of your car doesn't mean you need to go around and try to ruin other people's threads. You aren't welcome here.

maybe space the wheels out some more to really fill the arches and lose the wing and side skirts for a cleaner look?

otherwise good progress from stock, getting there

Ya. The wing is going here soon but it has work that needs to be dome once removed. I plan on picking up some 25mm spacers here soon. Right now I need to roll my fenders so I can space them out. I've been waiting for the fender roller I want for like 2 months now and I guess its scheduled to be in stock here in a couple weeks so soon i can order it and then the wheels will be spaced out.

Also I forgot to mention in the OP that the bumper I'm getting is different than the one that is on right now. That is kind of important.

Yep. Its a TRD kit that Toyota used as the optional Action Package. The spoiler is actually functional too. Its kind of cool that it is functional but it definitely doesn't fit in the scene anymore and needs to come off. It was probably cool in 2000 though since that was when the kit was designed.

I like this, actually. A friend of mine has the same model with the kit, and indeed is slow as hell. But unfortunately that friend is done with the car modding scene now, and his mods are out of date if you know what I mean, lol... (rice)

I always wanted to see what my friend's car would look like fitted/slammed, and it doesn't look bad at all since your car has taken that route. I'd keep that spoiler on, fuck it!

Haha ya. There are quite a few Celicas that haven't kept up and are just ricey.

The one thing that is nice about the car thought is even though it is slow it still corners very well even with stock suspension. Minimal upgrades makes it feel amazing.

I was thinking about leaving the spoiler on when i was just going to repair the current bumper since I personally think it compliments the entire kit quite well due to the aggressiveness of the kit but since I am changing it up the wing has to go.

Big kahuna, your car has a shit ton of potential. Don't know whether these are any of the looks your heading for, but ideas help get the ball rolling
I realise a few of them are a bit 'ricey' for most of us on this forum, but hey, can't hurt!

Just kinda felt this was the general direction you were headed with you build.

No doubt about the handling. These do handle very well.

Also, oops look what I did cos I'm bored...

i always liked the way these looked all riced out from the factory...it proved that toyota was listening

anyways I like what you have done with it and there have been a few nice celicas that I have seen...not many rock the huge trd wing but I like it. It's your car, you paid for it and so you get to decide it eternal fate!

the only thing I would get rid of is whatever is covering your gas door. the wheels should be white too, bc everyone knows how sexy white on silver is! Props and enjoy the slowica ;-)

i like where this is going. ignore the stupid kid lol. with a slightly less flashy body kit, it would look loads cleaner. personally i love seeing celicas that dont have the spoiler, but it is your car, so its up to you! love the wheels as well good luck with the rest of the build

I'd say Keep everything, but the front bumper. Also, color match the gas door. Then, get something sort of aggressive up front like

front splitters

maybe carbon fiber spoiler insert

Then, Paint the rear diffuser black to match the carbon fiber splitters.

Other than that , space the wheels and go for the Functional track spec look.

The kit isn't bad, but the front throws it off
