  • BMW E36, Wilma project

    Hey guys.

I baught this body in late March and started working on it in April but not much happend untill last Friday, when things got serious. On friday I got my budget JOM coils I said I'll try them out of curiosity... if I don't like them I'll buy D2 drift racing set of coils.

Im still waiting for my front M3 bumber, rear M3 bumper, side skirts (that I'll not fit, becauce I prefer E36 w/o them), front GT splitters, smoked fog lights and matt black kindeys (grill). I ordered this parts at the same tuning company in Germany (Im from Slovenia) as coilovers but I just got coils for now... funny.

Word or two about the engine that is going in... it's 2,5 liter single vanos engine (M50TÜ B25), it will get harder intake springs, visco clutch delete, ALU flywheel, sport exhaust manifolds and K&N intake panel air filter... and after all remap of the ECU (higher rpms - stock is 6500 and I'll for 7200-7300). Im hoping for 220HP.

OK, here's the project... I created FB because it's easier to update... will link you guys every new update.

Here, Im stripping her down :

And here's the OEM shocks and springs disassembly, just waiting for spacers between main and helper springs to be done out of aluminium (factory manucaftured was out of plastic )... Im picking these up later today and I'll also fit coils today!

I'll update suspension album on FB page later today when I fit coils and I'll post link here.

I hope you like the project so far

P.S. Im picking up full M3 exhaust and 18" style 32 rims in two weeks.

Today I got rest of the parts I ordered (full M3 body kit, smoked fog lights, matt black grill-kidneys, front GT splitters:

I also fitted coilovers and adjust front camber.

    Goodies

I also bought new rear top mounts

I cut bump stoppers in half so the ride won't be that bumpy

I put other half of the bump stoper on the reat shock

    Rear set fitted

    Front set

I bought longer bolts and some shims for DIY front camber adjustment (it's just for now, I'll buy front camber plates)

There is a few degree of negative camber (still no engine in the car and on 16" rims)

    Got stance?

I thought there's no such thing as to low

We're working on rear brakes today.

OEM brakes on this car were drums, but were changed for single rotors... and today we put on double/vented rotors.

      Comparison between those two

Rotor and caliper off (caliper hanging down, later removed)

We painted center piece in matt black

Yeah, I know I have to brush the hub and paint it

      All useless brackets removed

ABS unit bracket removed from pic above

Yup, we found more rust but it's just on the surface... will deal with it tomorrow

Sorry for not updating in a while. The reason is that we changed our location. Now we have 160m˛ (1722.2ft˛), it's a pretty cool workshop. I still have to organize everything, but I think It's going to be finished this week.

Meanwhile I got my M60B40 engine (V8 4.0), but w/o tranny. But for now that doesn't bother me, because I can start the metal work on the chassis w/o tranny. I'll update the photo of engine tomorrow.

I was wondering, for a while now... how the fitment looks in the front... so I took off the front right fender of my drift E36 and play around a bit. Let the pics talk (don't mind the pile of metal in the back, have to take it to the junkyard and sell it ) :

So we found out that, it's not low enough

What do you guys think about 15" (stretched tyre), my buddy loves them but I thnik they're just to small.

            Thanks, dude.

The project was on hold for a few months because I had to move all my stuff from one workshop to another. I'll update more now, when workshop is almost organized and I got my engine.

I think it's gonna drop a bit more with an engine and everything else in.

I'll post some photos of the engine tomorrow.

It's not actually an update but still.

I allways wanted to show you guys my workshop... and that's my half of the workshop me and my buddies have. It looks almost as I want it to look, a lil bit of work here and there, but now I can at least work on my projects and my friends projects

Don't mind the bended E36 (Im tearing it apart for my friend)

                              A little flush - ET20 7J with a balloon tyre

                              So let the pictures talk

                              Modified subframe

                              Teaser

                              Another one

My damn car is too low, so I couln't put the engine far enough with my crane.

She dropped a bit more... now with the engine in, she's literally STATIC!!! NO rebound
