Something to get your panties in a bunch
Hey everyone, I've been creeping around on STANCEWORKS for quite awhile now and decided it was time to reveal myself.
So this will be my introduction/build thread because I didn't think it was worth posting in two different areas. SO, let's begin, people call me Link for starters, not many people know my real name and I intend to keep it that way, I'm 14 and from the (surprisingly) cold south of the US of A............... Can you see why I didn't think this was worth it's own thread?
On to the build section!!
So a few days ago I saw a sorta kinda clean 318i on CL (Yes ANOTHER E30. Panties sufficiently bunched?) and decided to contact the owner, about 15 hours later the car was in my hands.. Sorta.. After signing the car over to my father we had to wait in the guys yard for three hours waiting on the tow truck.. It was cold and windy and the tow truck driver didn't even give me a discount for the wait, so blah blah blah I need to stop explaining each little detail.
When I bought the car there were more than a few problems..
[IMG] [/IMG]
No big deal, I can handle a project.. I hope....
So I've just been slowly working on it the past few days and thought someone on here may
enjoy it, I hope to have it running by next year. More updates to come!
Thanks for looking, now time for the pictures

I'm guessing they don't appear in previews?
I would have but didn't want to take the chance that they wouldn't show up at all.

Damn no engine, no wiring, no interior.... That's def a project. Probably will take you till you can legally drive it, to week, drive it. Ha
Floor plans you way need to hit up the junk yard and cut them out from a donor, that'd be the cheapest.

Haha, I'm hoping to get some help but I've been on my own so far.
And that was my first thought but I don't know how I would cut them out?
No way to get a cutting wheel into any junkyard near me, and I don't know any other way to do it :P

Nice starting point, seems very clean and free of major rust. I think the ride height is a little too low...

Okay so no m20 because I'm kinda broke at this point, but we're clearing out my garage so that it doesn't have to sit in the mud
Hoping to make a pullapart trip this weekend and actually get some parts as the last time we went we got there 10 minutes before they closed...
Anyway, I'll come back with a real update this weekend

So I had my girlfriend take me shopping so that I could actually get some work done,
and here are the results.
Rolled the car on ramps and removed the quarter panel
[IMG] [/IMG]
Then started to tackle the rust
[IMG] [/IMG]
Missing a plug, so out it comes!
[IMG] [/IMG]
Now just have to patch it up
[IMG] [/IMG]
And a rust hole
[IMG] [/IMG]
Then sanded away all the surface rust, sorry for poor quality
[IMG] [/IMG]
Once it got dark I banged out the dent in my quarter panel
[IMG] [/IMG]
Then Bondo'd
[IMG] [/IMG]
And sanded
[IMG] [/IMG]
Did I mention I've never banged out a dent before? Or Bondo'd?
Oh well, it came out decent.
More updates to come!

Hi peoples, I meant to have an update this weekend but things got... Sidetracked..
The night before last I was laying in bed over about an hour my eyes started to hurt and swell, I was going into anaphylactic shock, I have no clue why it happened, we've heard I could've had a reaction to an illness as I haven't felt well the last few days. But, I'm better now, I no longer have hives and I can get back to work
So this is what I've managed to accomplish before and while I was sick.
First I made patches for all the holes
[IMG] [/IMG]
Then welded them in
[IMG] [/IMG]
And plastered them in liquid nails
[IMG] [/IMG]
Then started on the worse holes
[IMG] [/IMG]
Somehow got a flat tire... Awesome >.<
[IMG] [/IMG]
Then painted my quarter panel, I intend to do the car this color
[IMG] [/IMG]
And this is how she sits now
[IMG] [/IMG]
Thanks for looking! Be back with another update soon.

So went to pull-a-part today, it was VERY successful.
Got some front end pieces, front valance, and a grille in pretty good condition.
Also got interior peices for my dash so it will be complete, and lucked out
and found front and rear emblems!
Sadly the valance was in worse condition than I thought, we got it on but its pretty warped, and I don't have screws for the grille, but these things really aren't that important anyway.
Didn't take any pictures because I forgot but I'll have some up tomorrow.
Thanks for looking!

So didn't get a lot of work done today or any pictures like I said, but we fitted the valance better after two hours and my dads help.
So here's your teaser

So didn't really do anything today, painted my emblems with my girlfriend, and that was it..
But here are pictures of what progress we've made
Valance on, grilles are sorta hanging there, my valance is missing
these little inserts that the screws for the grille go into? I don't even know...
Also my kidneys won't fit? They're way too big but I got them off the same
E30 as the grilles???? Help!
[IMG] [/IMG]
We used tow straps, a hammer and my jack with a block of wood
to make my valance fit correctly, but hey, it worked
[IMG] [/IMG]
Finished scraping off the weird insulation on the back seat
[IMG] [/IMG]
And you can't really see it in the pic but the actual emblem fell off
so I painted it black with silver flake, the other one is painted by
my girlfriend and isn't dry yet
[IMG] [/IMG]
Thanks for looking!
Going on vacation this weekend so no update, and my first time
away from the car, let's hope I don't die of homesickness.

[IMG] [/IMG]
Aaand bam, she now has a home
