Well the time has come to get rid of my 740il. I have gone through 14 other vehicle and this is the one I have owned the longest. It drives great and is a great car but I just don’t have the space to park it and make sure it stays safe. I bought this car at the end of last April from a guy who owns a detailing and mechanic shop on the North side of Milwaukee. It was his wife’s car and he needed quite a bit of persuading to sell this. The car is currently on air suspension and if it does not sell within a few weeks it will be removed and the car will be sold stock. Car is just coming out of storage and will be kept in Menomonee Falls for the rest of the time it will be with me. Please don’t waste my time and come and see the car if you’re not serious about buying it. If you want to call me and talk about it I have no problem with that. Just PM me and I will send you my number. Trades could be possible but I am pretty picky so don’t be hurt if I say no. I am asking 7,500.00 but that price is somewhat flexible so offer and see what I say.
1998 BMW 740IL
Odometer 184,xxx I got another odometer with it and this one had all the pixels replaced so I do not know if it is the correct mileage or not. I am not really too concerned though because there is no engine or transmission problems.
Recent maintenance (done in last 5k)-
•All control arms
•Both front speed sensors
•Brakes pads and rotors all the way around
•Heater control valves and new hoses
•Valve cover gaskets
•Intake gaskets
•Oil separator
•Transmission was replaces 20k ago
There is probably more but I am forgetting
Problems-
•The navigation does not work. It needs a new module and I had a MKIV unit it and I decided that it wasn’t that great so I sold it to buy other things.
•Headliner sags (I had fabric to replace it but I’m not going to keep putting money into a car that is getting sold)
•One power steering hose leaks (barely but I noticed it and thought that it should be known)
•Paint isn’t perfect but that is a given from most 14 year old cars
•Front bumper has a crack (has had it since I bought it)
•Will need tires soon
Now to the air system (everything has less than 5k miles on it)-
•Dual Viar 444 compressors
•5 Gallon Tank
•8 valve diaphragm manifold
•Air odyssey digital gauges
•AVS chrome 7 position switch box
•Front Bilstein struts with a dual bellow bag and a custom strut mount
•Rear is a sleeve bag made by Bagyard (has a Bilstein strut that has been revalved for specific air suspension use.
•Any kind of questions please don’t hesitate to ask. I am probably forgetting some things but the whole setup was done by me so I can answer all questions
Car also has black kidneys and all the chrome is blacked out. Grill is an actual black grill and chrome is covered by black out tape so it can always return to chrome very easily.
Please read the full ad before talking to me or posting in the thread. These pictures are from August and the car is now an inch and a quarter, I would say, lower now. The oilpan is 1/4inch off the ground when air out. When the car is aired up it can go up past stock ride height.
