1991 2.0 ABF GTI, e28's, race engine, ultraviolent.
...probably the best mk2 in the world in my eyes, ive wanted it the day i first saw it, missed the first chance to buy it off my mate Carl of StudioIncar fame, last year, and deeply regretted it ever since, luckily the chance came up again and i didnt hesitate, in fact the car wasnt even up for sale!
magnificent, shes looking a little worse for ware at the moment after being used for a daily over winter, but is still in great condition under a bit of grime. heres how shes currently sitting on her Porsche Azev A winters.
ive always said my favorite thing about the car is the interior, but now thats taken a back seat (excuse the pun) to the engine! a pretty much brand new race spec 2.0 ABF 16v....unbelievable engine, so smooth and easy to drive, but turns into an animal after 4k revs, when it starts to make noises normally only reserved for itb'd btcc cars.....
heres a rundown of the engine spec.
fully ported and polished
bullet tipped valve guides
port machined inlet
VW Racing inlet mani
knifed throttle body
k&n filter
steel head gasket
NGK Triples
valves ground
new stem seals
hardened springs & guides etc
fully knife edges and balanced bottom end
re-honed bores
new shells
balanced rods
lightened and balanced flywheel
black diamond fast road clutch.
all still running on standard management, and drives smoother while normal driving than my old 2.0 TDI A3!
along with a few choice chassis mods.
fully polybushed
AVO GZ2 coilovers
911 GT3 4 pot brembos with 312mm disca
custom carriers and braided lines
make this car a dream to drive, even with the 4 bbs wheels on the back seat!
as far as plans for the car goes...its going back to its home at studioincar tomorow, to be brought back up (or rather down) to the required standard, lowered back down, the wheels refurbed and rebuilt, a full detail and a few other minor problems fixed.
then,
more engine work.
standalone management
itb's or supercharger
carbon
CWE shifter
replaceing as many parts as pos with new OEM.
etc etc etc etc.
watch this space

cheers guys, the reccaros arnt OEM, they are pole positions retrimed in the orgional grey and ultraviolet material, in fact, the whole interior, front seats, rear bench and front and rear door cards have been retrimed! the work is outstanding though. OEM quality

Love the fit and finish of it all. Even the system in the back looks OEM-level cleanliness. When it comes to that OEM FTW. Would love to put some seats in my car, but in a tan on tan 5-series, might look odd.
