  • 1984 BMW 745i build thread

    Hey Everyone,

That 323i i purchased didnt exactly meet my expectations as far as a restoration project for myself. Luckily the owners of the 323i had this gem, so i consider it fate i bought the 323i allowing me to buy this 745i.

    1984 BMW 745i
Imported from europe in the 90s
Inline 6 3.5L turbo (from factory)
    Automatic with S,E,123 switch
Loads of power options however doesnt have the rear power seats which i was hoping.
I have not been able to find any rust on this car at all, im sure there is some but shock towers and trunk are mint
    car needs a major polish

    Plans:
Coilovers or bags (still undecided), wheels, chip, intake, wastegate, fuel pump, rise rate fuel pressure reg, ect ect

ive researched a fair bit and found with very little modification the engine can be putting out 400hp and similar tq numbers @14psi. Max boost on stock bottom end is 16psi, i will be running 14psi to be safe. This will be a long term project with no much happening at the start.

    Enjoy:

Engine decided to break a rocker arm so I got GAS to do some work:
    New:
    valve stem seals
    head bolts
    rocker arms
    head gasket
    lower timing gaskets
    upper timing gaskets
    intake mani gaskets
    exhaust gaskets
    valve cover gasket
    timing chain
    camshaft gear
    crankshaft gear
    timing guide rail
    timing tension guide
    misc vacuum hoses
    crankshaft seal
    cam seal

Reman'd the cylinder head as well.

got some more part courtesy of cts turbo:

    walbro 255 inline fuel pump:

    precision 39mm wastegate:

also bought a front euro grill and lights that i will be getting shortly, all i need to figure out now is a chip and fuel pressure reg and turn up the boost!

                            Hi, nice project.
I'm interested in pictures of the mounted wastegate. I think about sth like this for my B7 Turbo, but i think it wouldn't fit with my exhaust geometry. What fuel pressure regulator do you use, the orignial, what bosch nr. does it have?

Very nice. Not working out the head, manifold and upgrading the turbo? Try looking into the W.A.R. MAF&chip, Should work on yours, but I'm not 100% on that.

Either way, love these cars, Cant wait to see how yours goes.
