Default vw cabby build

here is my current project. 1990 vw cabriolet. its a never ending project. engine blew up after i smashed my oil pan on the way home from a show in ohio. the car is now back on the road but here are pics of the project as it went over the last few months.

Current Mod List:

Interior Mods:
- Alpine Head Unit
- Infinity Kappa 6x9" Speakers
- 6x9" Speaker Boxes
- Recaro Trophies(front)
- Custom Rear Seat Delete (plywood covered in vinyl)
- Jbugs Black Vinyl Door Cards w/ new clips
- Dash Bezel with chrome stripe
- Corrado Steering Wheel

Exterior Mods:
- JOM Coilovers (going to take out helpers and cut bump stops)

- Rota RB's 13x8 et4
- Sumitomo 175/50/13's

PICTURES...

back in the day when the cabby was unmolested.

coilovers added.

wheels and spacers.

new recaros and door cards.

rear seat delete, trunk cover, CD deck, and speakers.

top cleaned

broke down on the way home from Big Ohio. thank you AAA gold membership.

engine teardown

finished pulling my first engine. we ended up dropping it down from the car rather than lifting it out with the hoist. had so sawzall the side motor mount but everything else came out as i hoped. now its time to clean, possibly paint, and a new motor. here are some pics...

cleaned the bay today and removed more shit. old harness, ecu, radiator, a/c crap all removed. ready for paint....

old

new

well the bay is now ghetto painted. taped off the engine bay, did some sanding, and used 2 cans of high temp engine paint.
prolly missed a few spots but i dont really care. it looks better than before.

[

motor back in and running.

this was completed about a month ago. i am working on getting some good pics of the car. let me know what you guys think.

all cabbys are actually mk1's by the book. the clipper kit (bumpers/flares/skirts) are something they added to the rabbit platform to keep the car looking more current in the late 80's/ early 90's. just a bit of info a lot of people dont know.

thanks for the comments guys.
