Seriously. There's nothing wrong with being inspired by a story like Mike's cross-country trip and having the guts and conviction to attempt it yourself. I actually think that it's awesome that someone else wants to make the same trip. It always makes for a great story and a great chance for people to meet other enthusiasts along there way.
I say go for it. I like where your car is headed.

I had to drive 3.5 hours to work on it.... ..
the first day we spent 12hrs strait to swap in a 280zx 5 spd transmission ..... . . but had to pull the motor and 4spd,, cause we "thought" it would be easier
the second day I installed my shorter front coilovers, rear coilovers, new wheel bearings, bled the brakes .. . .. and tried some different wheels:
