Thanks. I haven't done much since the last time I posted. Since the code enforcement situation I move my cars around and since it's not in the driveway I don't think about it as often. I did start it up the other night. Started right up. And with an open downpipe it is LOUD! The car is throwing a CEL for the distributor. I have a few new ones now to take care of that. The other code is for an O2 sensor. But I expected that since it's not hooked up.

I previously put on the exhaust but had to take it off. I need a piece of flex pipe made to connect to the header. I was going to swap headers for an aftermarket one I have laying around but after further thought if I am going to go through the trouble of getting anything exhaust related made I might as well install the turbo kit that I have had laying on a shelf for years and then get the exhaust mated to that.

I still need pull the car out from hiding to adjust the coilover height in the front and I need to install some cotter pins for the ball joints nuts so that I can get it on the road safely without bottoming out. But it has been raining and snowing the past few days.

Sorry. I've been in the middle of a huge Honda/Acura garage clean up inventory sell all my leftovers from part outs of stuff just laying around collecting dust and taking up space that I don't need or have any immediate use for and would rather have the physical space for shoving more cars and parts in that I will be using instead and making a couple of extra dollars in the process of cleaning up selling throwing away and moving shit kind of thing over here.

I DID go get my bumper. I had it at my other garage and have freed up some space. So I intend to put the bumper back on so that I can drive it to my other garage (and not get pulled over by the police) and make some more progress on it.

As I mentioned before, the Del Sol is in hiding. And because of where it is I haven't wanted to attempt to move it and get stuck because of it being so low and the ground being soggy due to the weather. I have to move it when the ground is either dry or frozen. And then I have to get some boards for the frame to clear this little pipe that stick out of the ground and inch to secure the fence door closed. So as long as it doesn't rain I should be able to bring it out in a few days to solid ground.

I have been junkyard hopping to try and find another fender and maybe luck up on some BBS RS wheels again. But no such luck!

So the weather has finally been nice enough for me to get the Del Sol out of it's hiding spot. (And someone on here kind of motivated me to give it some attention) I'm going to have to vacuum out the spider webs. I went to drive it up the street and upon hitting the first bump remembered that I need to adjust the coilovers. If I had a filling it would have popped out.

I had written notes on the drivers window and it was extremely hard to read.

After a little bit I deciphered the first one and it said "connect tighten dizzy". Now I'll be honest, I do not remember writing that. I was mumbling to myself as I moved over to open the hood "why the ef would I write that dumb ass shyt............. OHHH!!!!! ". I grabbed the distributor and it was completely loose.

So I followed my own directions from last year, set the timing and tightened down 2 of three said bolts. I needed a longer extension that I did not have access to at the time.

Fast forward to today: With as much as many pieces as I have put together on this thing I never realized until today that my SRS light stayed on. Since I personally made every connection in the car I know the SRS is fully wired. That dern warning light was getting on my nerves.

So after about 10 minutes of trying to remember the correct reset procedure I got the SRS light to reset. It would have went a lot quicker if I 1)started with the correct connector first and 2) had aligned my paperclip ends better.

End result... NO MORE SRS light!

The CEL is on due to the distributor and oxygen sensor. I had a few brand new distributors laying around last year. But I sold them since I wasn't using them. I'll pick a few more up soon and throw one on here.

Now the hood latch wants to act funny. So I will deal with that maybe tomorrow. I can't remember why I have a complete hood release cable on the passenger floor. Maybe I was planning on changing that.

I have to remember where I put my floor mats.

I will be moving it to hiding spot B shortly. I haven't been able to locate a white fender. I might just throw a black one on there. The bumper will be reattached. Coilovers adjusted. Some bushings replaced. An LS mesh located and installed. Exhaust flex pipe made (open downpipe=LOUD) and then it might be out running the streets in all it's multi colored panel glory.

Stickerbomb the black fender with white stickers!

What are you going to do about wheels stance wise? I say that some 15x8 bronze RS watanabes or some sort of wheel along that line would look sick.

Glad you are updating this still though, kind of missed this thread.

I'm going to end up putting some 16x8's on it. I already have 16" tires to use. But that's the last thing I'm going to concern myself with. I have to address other things first. Such as safety, CEL, body panels, exhaust and alignment and whatever else pops up once I put some miles on it. Until then it will have LS meshes.

With the progress you've made on that Beetle. Yes you are. Make me feel like I'm am slacking. Although I have a little more going on. You at least got me to bring it out of hiding and reset the SRS light.

SO........ I just came in from meeting up with someone to sell them a car part. I decided to take the Del Sol since it was only "down the street".

What's the worst that could happen? Right?

A FAWKING DOWNPOUR!!!! THAT"S WHAT!!!!

So what did I learn in the two minutes I was in the car? It needs brand new wipers. I never installed the wiper fluid reservoir or attached the lines. The wipers only have two speeds... slow and SLOWER (how appropriate). I have water leaking into the blower motor and dripping down onto the passenger floor. I need a new driver side glass seal. I REALLY need to do something about adjusting these coilovers! AND I need to throw my pants in the dryer!

Well, see..... the thing is.... you can't see what's to the right or behind me.

Observe the tire tracks! LOL

I'll get to the fender eventually. I might go to the garage and tackle the leak going into my blower motor after I get something to eat.

Since the car is now protected from the elements I took the fender off:

No real damage to the body other than a bent tab

Poor fender RIP

Then I decided to find out what is causing the leak into the blower motor: Started with this:

After some frustration and cussing I just ended up breaking a bunch of plastic rivets to get to this point

Then I inspected this:

And remembered that EG civics are not build like DA Integras. So my leak is not the common bad dry rotted grommet thing as on Integras.

Then I flipped the cowl over and and found this:

The only thing I can see allowing any water to get in is the fact that the foam seal in the picture is dry rotted in a few spots. So when I get a chance I will be putting some sort of gasket seal or new foam to see if that solves my issue. I also may take the hood hinges completely off to make installing the cowl 100 times easier! I also have to order some clips and pieces that I broke.
