Well sorry that it doesn't have the noise that Canons have , but it's definitely a capable camera. Image quality is said to be at par with the D90, and slightly below at very high ISO, but I never really shoot that high, if it's stupid high ISO I'll just not shoot or use flash. But it renders more detail 14bit vs 12bit. Has better AF, meters with Ai lenses, magnesium body, weather sealing etc. I lost video but I gained 8fps. Also so far I really like the layout of the buttons except one pesky button in playback.

I should also mention how much I love this light box! I want to build a better one as well as a black box type of rig

Only kidding my friend haha. Lightbox looks like it works really well, I would love to see a "blacklight box" I guess you could call it. The D300 is definitely a capable camera, I'm excited to see what you do with it. Seems like you are getting a lot better with each shot you take.
