  • Work split rim bolts rust?

Hey guys I just picked up a set of work wheels and wasnted to clean up the bolts it came with. Im not sure what material its made out of so would leaving them in a vibratory tumbler strip them completely and cause them to rust down the road? Thanks!

Put them in Coke (soda) then take a wire wheel or brush to whatever doesnt come off...then polish up and enjoy.

check them with a magnet. if they are magnetic then they are steel and will rust. if they are not magnetic or very weakly magnetic they are stainless steel and won't rust quickly but may rust a little. if you polish stainless bolts they will rust less. and also if you wax them. if you clean and wax the wheels enough to keep the aluminum lips clean and shiny, any stainless bolt wouldn't rust.

they could be zinc plated steel if they are silvery with white oxide and rusting where the zinc has rubbed off. chrome will haze over with rust and eventually flake off.

pics would help here...what do they look like ?
