Hi guys, here in Poland we have an annual low-car meet by some guys from a forum called Raceism. Three days before the event we got the idea to put something cool together for the occasion, and this is what we came up with. The Cadillac was for sale, but lack of interest made the car stay a little longer than planned, and I just stumbled across the wheels while I was browsing some adds online.
Getting the suspension sorted caused some major head-aches - more than we had planned for. Turns out that when you lower one of these things the front shocks quickly run into the end of their travel and end up with the shock body resting on the top mount.
The solution we came up with was to weld the factory Cadillac strut mounts onto a threaded tube, into which one can screw in a coil-over from a BMW e46. However, it turned out that the springs the coil-overs came with were too weak, and the coils were almost resting on each-other. Low-tec springs for an Alfa-Romeo 147 came to the rescue, and now it rides great.
I'll get around to taking some better photos soon and I'll post them up in a day or two
