That kinda brings us close to where current efforts are at:
I sent the car back to Drew at Dorbritz Designs for some redecorating and to add some things. Before loading the car onto the trailer some things needed removing

Bumpers being taken off to be sent for new chrome:

Interior removed for the new upholstery job to be done:
Missing picture but just imagine a car with no seats, console or door cards

This has been removed as well:

First the audio. I had been following a thread on the R3Vlimited forum by Luke Ward & the guys over at German Audio Specialists. They have been doing some impressive work with BMW wiring, crossovers & model specific tuned boxes for E30s and all of their customers seem to love their work. I finally was able to get them to ship out their second ever produced enclosure for an E28 which was the final piece I was waiting for on the install. It included a built in amp rack and they even had it covered to match my new interior color direction.

The design of the box does call for some minor cutting to the shelf & firewall, but oh well:
Ports from the box through the back shelf

          Forward facing 10"

Post mount tweeter in stock location

Replacement for stock speakers on rear deck

Also custom kick panels were made for the lower component set near the front floor but I misplaced pics so I will post them later.

I failed to mention that I also picked up a set of wheels from a good friend in the form of the only set of HRE 506s that we've seen stateside maybe even overseas too:

Moving along to the new trunk setup for the air ride. I wanted to include more hard lines in the setup while changing it up a bit to give a visual to the audio so the car went back to Drew at Dorbritz Designs as he is always able to understand what I'm looking for and bring it to life.

                    Initial mockup:

                    Bending the lines:

                    Adding some color:

A subtle touch from from the guys over at Airth Defined:

After it's stop at Dorbritz Designs I decided to have my good friend over at Hill Detail Works in Dallas provide some paint loving before hauling it back home to Houston:

While the car was in Dallas parts were still arriving. the second set of Futura Design brakes came in as the first setup was too small for my liking (by the way they are still for sale):

No pictures of the installation as that starts this weekend maybe even as soon as tomorrow.

Just before I left for Dallas to retrieve Mr.Farnsworth, the interior had been completed. For me this was the hardest part of the build to date because a bad interior can ruin everything else in a build and re-doing an interior is so final, especially on this level. I went through several decision making processes & several trips to the fabric shop to get through this one. Originally I wanted to do a vinyl and fabric combination so the first step was decding on a color:

I don't know why but I've always been drawn to that cardinal or maroon color to the interior of the car. While it was a spot on match, it was within the traditional interior colors offered for that year BMW. Letting go was hard but I eventually decided to stick it out with the blue in order to dial it down and keep a more clean/classy look to match the exterior.

So then began matching of the fabrics tones and the constant back & forth on weather or not the vinyl and tweed would go well with the specific style of seats:

I had also considered doing a perforated center but after talking once again with the fabric guys to get a better understanding of how the stitching I wanted would work with material & almost of of pure frustration I decided to just go with a full vinyl setup. After a few painful back and forth trips with the upholstery shop the final product was a very pleasant surprise.

                            Door cards:

                            Handles:

                            Rears:

                            Stitching:

No pics installed yet...hopefully by this weekend or early next week.

With the car safely nestled away in the garage it's time to do some minor cleanup under the hood. Since I need to perform a valve adjustment anyway & diagnose an idle issue, I thought this might be a good time to get some items cleaned up:

                                What I'm working with:

                                This is hellish:

Some parts have made it back:

So I think we are all caught up now. I'll post more pics after the progress from the holiday weekend. Thanks for watching!
