  • What editing software do you recomend?

I have no experience editing photos and I normally shoot with a Nikon D80.

What type of editing software do you recommend for some one with absolutely no experience. Something that would be good to start with so I can learn the basics.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I've heard good things about Adobe Lightroom but never actually tried it. Photoshop is the usual go-to, I have CS on my laptop and CS3 on my work computer and you can't go wrong with PS

Adobe Lightroom is great. I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but it's transformed my pictures. Quite easy to get used to as well. There is plenty of videos should you need a hand.

i primarily use Photoshop, but have used Lightroom 1, and in my experience it was hard to get used to, however i was moving from a more powerful program to something that was supposed to be streamlined but slimed back on features that most photographers wouldn't use, but i guess i'm not most photographers?

anyhow i couldn't get used to it and ended up selling it. i now have CS5 Design Standard (student edition) which isn't too outrageously expensive, and i love it, i guess it kinda depends on that you are trying to do.

Lightroom for sure. It's easy to learn, great for workflow and produces great results. It can even clone/heal.

Also there's a massive difference between the current version and Lightroom 1.

if you need to edit a big batch of photos use lightroom. i was always stubborn and stuck with photoshop but found out how quick and easy it was to knock out a huge set with lightroom
