I had a few minutes today to poke around the Golf, so I did.

Had a look at an area that is typically rusty on these - the bracket that holds up the fuel filler neck thingie. Worst cases, it's so rotten that you have to cut out the wheel housing. But it seems very solid on mine. At first it looked like there was no rust at all, but after I cleaned up some more, I did find some. But it's not really anything major, I think. It feels very solid and while poking it with a screw driver, I didn't poke through, so... shouldn't be too bad to sort.

So, I stumbled upon a set of wheels today on ebay. ATS Cups - nothing special, right? Well, wrong! Since this is a rare staggered set. The fronts are the standard 7x15 ET20s, but the rears are the 8x15 ET18s. Those are quite rare. And since I love ATS Cups, I just had to have them.

Excited on how this build will turn out
Not seen a classy low mk2 in this colour with 15" very often

So, finally got some stuff done yesterday.

Moved the car into it's semi-permanent digs now that the E36 is out of the way:

Then got startet on removing all the wheel arches to check for more rust.

          Rear passenger side:

          Front passenger side:

          Front driver's side::

          Rear driver's side:

Then also quickly took off the lip and bumper and that was that for yesterday.

Really stoked with how clean the shell seems to be. Can't wait to tear into it some more.

Really cool find dude, those NZ's are pretty reliable.

not wanna threadjack but my friend used to have a GTI (ABF swapped) in the same color, untill he wrecked it at Assen.

Dark Burgundy is amazing when it's buffed up and polished decently. i used to despise mk2 at first but that GTi and color sparked my love for them and now i'm tempted to get one as a daily aswell

            Keep the updates coming!

i shouldn't be daily driving this:

No real updates as of yet. Haven't had much time as I've been very busy with work and some other stuff.

But I did manage to find a 80ies gem... this showed up in the mail today, a super rare Zender front:

                  I'm super excited!
