How to split full height BBS RS hex nut?

I need to split my cap apart to send the aluminium part for plating, I know it's possible as seen others doing the same separating it from the plastic threading..

How exactly does it come apart, don't want to snap it.

The plastic is super strong and you shouldn't break it. I wedged small flatheads under the plastic from the bottom and moved them around the outer edge. Had to use a few. Ended up popping right out but it's a bit tough.
