  • The Beer Thread

I'm new here so forgive me if there is/was a beer thread. Although I love beer, and I'm sure the ones who do also won't mind.

Anyway I figured make a thread to share/discuss/recommend/review different beers you've had. I recently turned 21, but I was introduced to a lot of craft beers about a year or so ago through fellow friends. So I like to think I am above the "woo dang you tried this natty ice?" type.

A few of my favorites thus far would be...

Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald (my favorite beer hands down)
    Unibrou La Fin Du Monde
    Arcadia Triple Chocolate Stout
Founders Breakfast Stout (strongest stout ive tasted thus far)
Wells Banana Bread Beer (good sessionable beer during warmer months)
BBC (I enjoy everything they make, esp. that they are local)
Schlafy Saison (the only saison I've had, but I loved it)
    Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
    PBR(my go to drunk/cheap beer)

That is all that comes to my mind at first as of recently. I know I've left out many of great beers out there, but I hope to just kick this thread out. Hopefully in the right direction.

I'm currently drinking a BBC Dark Star Porter. One of my favorites from BBC. Cheers!

Dogfish Head Raison D'etre - My favorite beer to date. 8% alcohol, a deep mohagony ale brewed with beet sugar, green raisons, and belgian style yeast, brewed with a sense of purpose.

Ziegenbock --Brewed exclusively for Texas. A lot like Shiner with a better after taste.

Thread revival. Lets see what kinds of beers Stanceworks likes to drink...

I also hope that the kinds of beers people on here drink are better than most of the stuff that everyone BUT the OP is posting about!

Here's whats in my fridge currently:
                  Stone Vertical Epic 10.10.10
                  Stone Vertical Epic 07.07.07
                  La Trappe Quadruppel
                  St Bernardus Abt 12
                  Great Divide Yeti
Stone Russian Imperial Stout (bottled in 2008)
Sierra Nevada Fritz & Ken Stout
                  Berkshire Brewing Coffeehouse Porter
Stone Kona Coffee Coconut Macadamia Nut Porter (2)
                  Russian River Pliny the Elder

Had a Russian River Consecration last night, and it was my first Belgian sour. Pretty good stuff. I liked it.

Hmm here are a few suggestions I think you might enjoy.

Try Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar Ale since you like Newcastle. It should really give you a feel as to what a brown ale should taste like, in my opinion. I think Newcastle is too sweet and malty for my own palate. The Rogue one is full of flavor, and very nutty. If you like Hoegaarden you probably would like Rogue Somer Orange Honey Ale. Although I wouldn't classify it in the same style as Hoegaarden, it probably would suit your preferences. It's a real easy drinker to say the least!

Interesting. I'll have to see if that's available at our local watering hole.
