  • Uk E36 Individual Touring

Hey peeps, been meaning to get a build thread up on here for a while..

Used to drive a Polo on Air ride which I ended up stripping and scrapping..

    The old motor

The new but old replacement, car used to belong to Dips. After seeing the car at westside show in 2013 i fell in love with the thing and ended up being the new owner a year later!

For those that don't know the car here is a link to Dips' build thread on the car when he first bought
    http://www.pbmwforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16668 :thumbs-up:

So The journey of BMW ownership starts here

Since having the car few changes have been made , first one being the steering wheel. Car came with a tech 2 steering wheel, wasn't really my cup of tea. So a call to Jack at Royal steering wheels was made and well, the results speak for themselves

    before

    After

Soft nappa and perforated leather with M stripe stitch and padded up for a better feel

Next up was the seats. Sold all the bits out of the polo other than these..

Dropped the car off to Jamie at MooresMotors for him to fab up some bases and get them sitting right. Hers's the result

Completely changes the drive and are so comfy. The whole interior will be re trimmed later on so it all matches :thumbs-up:

Try to give it a wash every week if I get the chance  some random pics

Spoke to Dips and had an idea of putting e46 m3 folding mirrors on, being Dips he had something in his archive of stock, he painted them up for me and we got them on. Bit of a marmite thing but, vision is fairly limited with the E36 M3 mirrors especially an estate, so they also have a functional reason lol.

Thats all so far, plenty of plans in place for this year so I will keep the thread updated as progress goes along.

Hope you like it so far :thumbs-up:

Gave the old girl a good service, was defo needed

Also noticed it was idling very strange for a week, got DJSyxx (Richie) to plug his laptop into the car and see where the issue was coming from. Issue was coming from the MAF, after further inspection the common maf boot had a split which was causing the jerky idling.

    Old MAF boot

    New VS Old

    All sorted and drives great

Demon tweeks had a sale on during xmas so I got some 15mm spacers for £30.

    With out spacer

    With Spacer

    Cheers :thumbs-up:

Got my polished hex nuts back for the bbs' from Dips so got the centre caps fitted.

Also managed to pick an M50 inlet up for £80, only went to get an msport bumper but the price was too good to say no to lol

Will get it fitted soon along with a Simota air box and a remap from Jason at BW Chiptune

Also got the tracking done by Jess and Dean at EuroTires in Wembley. Great guys, very helpful.

      Cheers

With any luck I should be able to send the barrels off to Dips @TheCustomCars for them to be powder coated. Haven't decided what do to with the centres yet. Sent one the centres off to Germany to see if the custom dishes can be made, will decide what to do after that

Couple pics from Bimmerboys meet at AceCafe a few weeks back

        Cheers

          Small update,

Got myself a complete StormMotorWerks weighted gear knob with the hand brake cover and lighter blank to match.

Old tatty gear knob and gaiters

New replacement bits Makes changing through gears effortless!

Dishes arrived after ages but was well worth the wait

After having my polo on air, it was only right to get this one done too!

Loving the way it drives and sits now

Went bonnet less for a day

            15mm spacers went on

When I arrived mega late to the hotel the night before Bmw festival lol

Its off road now until next year, lot of niggles that are bugging me and are letting the car down so will be getting it all sorted

Also need to get this built and dropped in

            Cheers
