I have a 190E with Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs, but the drop this setup gives you is pretty canadian. Most people run cut springs on the old Benzes... I want to cut maybe one coil, but I was wondering which part to cut. The top has the end flattened and ground down, and the bottom only has the end flattened. If I cut the bottom, I won't have the flattened end anymore. Is that the "right" way to do it (obviously cutting isn't the right way haha...) Thanks!

Cutting springs on 190E, how do I go about it

I've heard lowering springs are pretty useless, because they are progressive, they just won't be stiff.
I'm running E36 coilover shocks in the front and 3.5" coils cut from original spring. It slammed the hell out of it, but the ride is great.

Yes. because those will have specific spring rates for the lower ride height.
Cutting stock springs will eventually increase the spring rate compared to when they were the original lenght. So when you keep stock shocks, you'll end up with very stiff springs, but really soft damping.Last edited by loekaaz; 03-08-2016, 05:50 PM.Lucas
