I never intended to own a Golf R. I did, however, know that owning a MK6 was a goal I badly wanted to accomplish. Once I had a job that allowed me to afford one, I went to the dealership and ordered myself a 5-door Driver's Edition GTI in Carbon Steel Gray. Having a VIN assigned to you for a car in Wolfsburg that hasn't even been built yet is a very cool feeling. I did the normal MK6 thing and put it on air and BBS's because I wanted to enjoy my walk up to it after work everyday. That project is here:

    DUTCHswift's Driver's Edition GTI

The GTI was shaping up to be everything I wanted and I even started building my dream set of wheels for it. I tried to capture as much information as I could about the wheels, their history, and all the details I wanted to put into them. That story and build can be found here:

My Road To Futura: OZ Build/Timeline

I noticed that the information I had was from various sources, so in an effort to do some good with my sometimes obsessive organization, I put together this reference thread hoping I can help other people when they are working on their builds:

The Official Wheel Build Almanac & Reference Thread

So as things tend to go for me, nothing good usually lasts... I got cut off by a guy who luckily had insurance and the GTI got totaled. My insurance check was to be the stepping stone into something else. I knew I didn't want to get out of the MK6 platform just yet, but I definitely didn't want to build the same car I just built. VW stopped manufacturing that platform about a year before the accident, so I knew I'd have to buy used. I noticed that I could get a Golf R with low miles at a way more reasonable price than they went new.

I know I don't want to sacrifice the fun of the power or AWD by turning it into a crutch'd stance machine. I'm going to build a car that I can stare at in a parking lot and I can get in and beat the shit out of it on the road. I want my R to be a balance of performance and looks.

So now that I got the suspension in, and fit the Futura's to the car (and the car to the Futura's)...smh... I'm going to start working on making this thing go faster and handle better. The performance bag setup and Koni's I have is for sure more responsive than the stock suspension and the car corners really flat now which is a blast.

    Here's where I'm at now:

It's only been bagged for a week so these are the best shots I have right now. I'll work on getting some better ones in the near future.

Following this! This is exactly my goal for my S4. Something that I can park at a show one day, and go to a track day the next.

I am Dutch (... and Danish) haha. The 'swift' part is from back when I played Halo 3 and COD MW2, but let's just say that now it's a descriptor for the Golf...

Planning on getting LED tails, a frame notch, and my digigauge for my bag/tank pressures installed in the near future. Everything with the air suspension has been great except for this one annoying Schrader valve I have for the tank drain. The seal is not seating right and it's draining pressure from my tank. I need to get it replaced ASAP.

Also, found a new location to shoot so hopefully I will have some more photos to share shortly.

lol I don't know. Because it's cheaper for them to just make the same size for everything. It also fit on my ABA 2.0 MK4...

That's my plan. Already working on details of how I can get rid of the camber and get wider tires/contact patch. It will probably involve some bodywork on the fenders and some wider barrels so I can get 10's to 10.5's on all corners. I can already feel the car sliding on dry pavement off ramps from the highway. It's kind of annoying TBH.

Welllll.... I built them for the GTI, and then they were repurposed for this car. The AWD feels awesome and I can't wait to get this thing tuned.

Also, another pic from the other day:
