Mercedes airmatic modifications?

Having dropped my W220 I need to be able to lift here as we have a a LOT of speed bumps round here!

So has anyone tried replacing the inboard compressor etc replacing it with a quality pump and tank but hooked up to the original air shocks fitted as standard ?

Is this even possible

I have very little knowledge with air please help

Yes. Many people utilize the factory Airmatic struts with aftermarket air suspension parts.

I'm curious about this too. I wanna achieve aftermarket air suspension "low-ness" using factory airmatic.
