    Yes.

I usually build one every 3 years for around 1200. But I get a new screen too.

I was going to get one of those, but after reading up on the comparisons (with gaming), the difference was minimal.
Yeah you don't really need the extra processing power for gaming. It's great for doing really intensive stuff with complex algorithms, but there is no real advantage for gaming as you know. I want a rMBP because the screen is gorgeous, and I want to get a really nice IPS display once I do finally get a place, so I can have something awesome to edit photos on. UGH, now I'm going to go look at that shit again.

Buying the most expensive CPU won't necessarily make it stay relevant longer.

                    Pretty good write up\test here.

With 2011 upon us, many in the tech industry are gearing up for what looks like one of the most interesting years in terms of new product launches and emerging technologies finally coming into their own. Stereoscopic 3D content will continue to be shoved down our throats, AMD’s Fusion...

Its for the last generation but its still holds true.

Yeah you could probably build a budget pc and get more power out of it.

                    i5 core
                    16gb
                    120ssd for the OS
                    decent video card

                        • I might just split up my PC next year.

Upgrade the better parts and reuse the leftovers to build a media box or arcade.

                          • I'm going to sell my laptop for 1k, right before I graduate and then get a new MBP so it will only cost me like 1.3k using my student discount.
