  • 83' E28 Steering Hub Question

I want to buy an aftermarket steering wheel and hub for my 1983 528e, however I'm confused on which one will fit it? I noticed that NRG makes one but its for the 85-88 528e, will this one fit my car even if its an 83? Or what are my other options?

    Thanks in advance,
    Elvis

I guess you'll have to keep the standard wheel

It just occurred to me that I may have this issue too. Anybody know where to get a coarse spline adapter?

To the OP, I figured it out. A coarse spline steering wheel adapter is MOMO part #2005. They're on ebay and whatnot.

Yeah I've seen them, however I've debated getting one because I feel like my steering wheel would be too close to me.

Apparently the NRG hubs for an E30 work? Or at least that's what the guys at gripRoyal told me. They're a lot smaller as far as I know.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering but I'm not really sure if they work for E28s made before 1985...

Anything after 83 uses a fine spline wheel. Pre-83=Coarse spline...

That's what I'm saying. I asked them if they know which hubs fit my '83 and they said the E30 NRG should.

So my only option would be the Momo steering wheel hub?

Basically this is what I've found also. And being that momo has an actual part number for an e28 it's the safest bet IMO. I'll be getting a momo hub here soon. Nrg is good and all. I've had no problems running it on my other car. But really all you need is the momo hub, Nrg quick release and whatever steering wheel you want.
                          When in doubt lower it!

use the telescoping feature located under your steering column pull the lever 180*, telescope out, lock back in place.
