Imo, that really depends on what's been done to it.

E36 with non-M bumpers, amber turns, stock height and stock 15" wheels? Looks old and dated as hell, esp. if the rockers and lower bumpers are painted bodycolor.

Drop it and add some nice wheels and you've got yourself a very timeless looking car, imo, at least if the rockers are painted black.

Any E36 with M-bumpers looks pretty timeless.

lol yeah true I didnt even realize that. But yeah, obviously he didn't mean that. I'm willing to bet he just forgot the n't at the end of aren't. He says if atleast the rockers are painted black opposed to gray.

Agreed w/ darkside's car. That thing has been a huge inspiration to me.

I meant that on a Non-M bumpered car, I like flat black rockers better than either the stock grey ones or color matched ones.

The flat black ones make the E36 look longer and more sleek, imo. With the rockers bodycolour it looks... bloated.

The only color where color matched rockers look good is black... an example (okay, he has lux skirts, but you get the point when looking at the bumpers):
