      like so....

e36 BMW`s have a slot in the chassis that a bar can slide in through the side skirt. Technically I could take the wheels off my car and put the car on the grround and still be able to jack it.

I wish my car had that. Would have saved me lots when some prick stole my wheels.

+1. Beside my Vorshlag stud kit, the Pelican jack pad is the best purchase I've made for my POS e36 yet.

I also keep planks in my trunk just in case. I don't have a nice race jack though so I have to drive up on two 2x4s, then stack two and drive up again on them, and then i MAY be able to get my jack under it I need a lowpro jack badly

there are a few jacks you should be looking at. one has a collapsed height of 2-3/4" and the other is 2.5":

Had to jack my non-running car up a few times.

Rear tow hook as jackpoint, stick ramp under rear wheel, put jack under rocker, jack up whole side, put ramp under front wheel, remove ramp from rear wheel, lower and re-jack from front tow hook, or if jackstand required, jack from under front fender and insert jackstand.
