Received my set of steelies back from the powdercoaters Saturday. They did an awesome job, however I fucked up when buying the wheels. Look closely, and you can see the difference. I test fit them today, and they will work with no issues, just pisses me off that I did not notice they were different...

I wanted to buy a set of new whitewalls for the car, but every tire shop I went into laughed at me when I inquired about whitewalls, nevermind whitewalls in 14". Found a nearly new set of four on above wheels for $100 (only new tires I could find were from Coker for $200+ each, and they were not really what I wanted). What I really wanted was a set of tires in the original European size, SR-14 or something, but I had even less luck trying to find those than the whitewalls....

The whitewalls were in terrible shape. One i had to take a knife to and scrape off a bunch of silicone that had gotten on there somehow. I used my usual Spray-9/hard bristle brush to clean them with no success. Browsing the workshop I found some wetsand paper, and figured why not. Worked better than I expected.

Have to find another tire to use as a spare, then hopefully I will have them mounted up and on the car by the end of the week. Will be glad to get the 35 year old Michelins off of it....

There's a few places that sell whitewall paint, but it's not very durable.

In for results! I love these cars.

I just bought a brand new set of Whitewall tires - they were in stock at my local discount tire co. and should be available usa wide.

you can buy either Frisk (oldest tire co in america) and Kumho - both available in 14" and with whitewall.

note in this link the picture is not whitewall but the code has WSW at the end (white side wall) and they are cheap!!

I just got a set on my '68

cant wait to see the steelies mounted up!

And yes, it is the same car that is in the above Youtube video. One day I'll get some pictures of the suspension/management set-up
Nice! glad to hear! I'm located in Kitchener. I'd love to shoot the car after those white walls are on!

Slam specialties RE5 bags up front, RE6's out back. Four manual paddle-valves controlling each corner located in ashtry, compressor is switched by the old rear defroster switch, viair compressor (can't remember which one at the moment), 5 gallon tank. Front suspension is stock with aluminum spacers on top of the bag, rear has had mount plates welded in for the bags on the lower control arm, shocks have been re-located. Some pictures from the previous owners build thread...

Just for fun, the wheels the previous owner ran...

Had the main line from the tank to the splitter up front blow out in the trunk, but it was no biggie. Line was only rated for 150psi, had been running at 170psi for three years. I get a bit of noise in the back when I drive with it aired out, but the axles are original, and are in terrible shape. I've been putting off changing them cause its not a pleasant job, but look like I'm going to have to in the next couple weeks due to a cv boot failure. I'd love to have a set of axles from the "Porno Benz" W115 on hydraulics, dont know whether to contact the guy to see if he would make me a set or not....

Check out his build thread, serious car....

Update on my car, I'd been thinking about installing a hardwood floor in the trunk since I got the car. My neighbours wife's father caught wind of the idea, and dontated me a couple boxes of hardwood flooring! My neighbour and I were bored today, so we decided to start the install. Made a template out of some old vinyl flooring, took a trip to Home Depot, transferred in onto plywood, cut, install, trim. A few hours work so far, and its coming together nicely. Would have preferred the boards be a little narrower, but when its free, I cant complain. Big thanks to my neighbour for helping me out! Next on the list, new air management setup....

Laid some wood in just to see how it looked...

thats a pretty wild axle, it looks like two of those should be able to be fabricated fairly easily.
i like the progress your making on the trunk.

                            build thread?

In his build thread, theres a bunch of pictures of the process. Required stock cv axles being cut apart, welding, turning on a lathe...
