215 45 17 on a 10.5j is going to be the same stretch as a 225 35 17 but will effectively have 18mm taller sidewall. Here is the picture of 225 35 17 on a 10.5.

215 40 17 on a 10.5 will be very very slightly more (won't notice looking at it) stretch than a 225 35 17 but will only have 7.25mm taller sidewall.

these are free-- 225/35s are at least 100 a piece and the 215s will fit according to the post above

Is that another question or are you finally reading what I'm writing? I tried to compare it to 225 35 because you said you knew what that looked like and because it's the same stretch as the tyre you're getting for free BUT 215 40 would be the best imo
