  • Steve's E30 Build: Humble Beginnings

I'd like to share with everyone my most recent BMW endeavor, a lovely 1987 BMW 325e. As I've ventured down the E36 path for several years now and have owned 6 of those cars, I feel as though its necessary to have a fresh start. Something to challenge me with, and something to further explore this BMW rabbit hole with. So here it is:

This car was brokered through to me via salvage auction by a friend of mine, who ironically also owned two of my previous E36s before I ended up with them. However both of those cars ended up being parted out, so I'm optimistic in thinking that I will actually keep this car. After looking it over, I decided it was worth the price he was asking because finding a car that is mostly rust free in New England can prove to be challenging. The car only has 114k original miles, and the odometer still works! I found some of the previous owner's information in the car, as well as some lube packets, but it turns out the owner passed away early in 2019. So that type of news hits home hard for me, I'm honored to, in a way, carry on his legacy.

This is mostly just an intro at this point, my goal is to provide real time updates when I work on this car and find things etc. To go over plans with the car its pretty simple as of right now:

    S50/52 swap
    ZF 5 speed
    Coilovers
    Sticky tires

I plan on doing this on a pretty strict budget, as far as the swap anyways. Anything else over time will be inevitable, but I have a lot of 24v parts that I can use to refresh the engine and trans etc. My goal is to not spend any money out of pocket on the engine swap, only money I acquire from the sale of my E36. I intend on finding an E36 M3 donor car, parting it out and using the profits for the actual hard parts I need to complete the swap. I'm feeling very eager to work on this and
I'm greatly look forward to this build.

I'm excited to see how this shapes up! Seeing how you built the E36 drift car (rip) and the E36 you have now, and your E30 will be tremendous

Customer satisfaction surveys are a very popular tool in the present times to gauge the level of quality services offered to customers. Do you know about the Dgcustomerfirst Survey? Get more about this here.
