  • B5 S4 Build

Hey everyone, I made a post a little over a year ago about an E30 I was building. Well, I sold the e30 back in July of 2018 after never finishing it. So I'm back, hopefully with something I'll keep making progress on
    The old E30

    How I sold it

So I picked up one of my top 10 dream cars, a beautifully kept 2001 Audi S4, it already had Forge DV's, silicon hoses, Scorpion Catback, BBS CH-R's, B6 S4 (18Z) Front Brakes and KW Variant 3 coilovers

I got bored fairly quick, and went out and got SSAC 3" Downpipes, K&N Drop In Filter, stiffer DV springs and spacers, JFonz Stage 2 tune w/ Antilag, about 2 weeks into owning the car. Next I wanted to lower it, but the BBS' didn't have my heart, I had a B5 with CH's a while back that looked decent, but that wasn't what I wanted.

The Privat's I picked up weren't horrible, the lips had a little scuffing, and the faces had some paint flaking, but I just wanted them on so I could start visualizing my plan

Then I started to monster truck around for about 2 weeks with the wackest stance I could possibly have
      https://imgur.com/PCkpYnr
It was High time to lower it, The V3's have been set far too soft by the PO, so I had to pull all 4 coils off to adjust them (adjustability is amazing on them but it was trial and error to get the right amount of rebound and compression so I don't rub and or it to handle properly and ride halfway decent)
      https://imgur.com/nfnHpW6
It still sat a little high, but I'll take care of that later. It was nearly christmas, so I had to stop ordering parts, and think about other people. Luckily, my lovely girlfriend got me the shift knob I was dying for, and my parents got the JHM short throw shifter I was eyeing
      https://imgur.com/GHxoVe0
Then, of course, shit hit the fan. I blew out both front tires from terrible camber wear coupled with garbage toe out. I called up my insurance for my free tow, making sure to tell them I needed a flat bed capable of handling a lowered car. I sat there for over 2 hours waiting for an underqualified driver, with a massively underqualified truck. So by the time the car was back at my shop, the bumper was destroyed, foglights were ruined, and I was pissed. But I found an RS4 Rep locally (KBD) so at least I'd have a bumper, and while I was at it, I threw on an RS4 grill to complete the poser look.....

But as I'm sure you can see, the paint was so foggy, and so severely swirled that it never looked right under any kind of light. So i broke out the compounds and trusty DA buffer and got to work. 7 hours Later it started to look pretty decent

Since I had the heat going, and the garage was warm, I got my GF to spin down the coils a bit more (she only went down 2 threads, I wanted to Max them out, but she didn't quite understand why, so she took it upon herself to save me the headache.... for now), she was incredibly helpful, and didn't mind doing it, which was nice, the end result was mirror finish paint, and a nice respectable winter ride height

Next up was fixing the wheels, and I picked out a color (stainless steel) and started spraying, turned out a few shades darker than the previous color, and had a helluva lot more flake in it

Because I'm lazy, and basically a giant child, I decided masking tape was too difficult to manage, so me being this massive child, I broke into my Play Doh stash.....
      https://imgur.com/1bWOHIv
The Play Doh worked perfectly, except now I can't play with it anymore since its all crusty.... bit of a bummer, but gotta break some eggs to make an omelette

So that brings us to recent. I'm going to try my best to keep updating this thread as I have plenty of things to do with it

Went and got her aligned today, steady at -2.5 degrees of camber up front and -2.25 out back. Caster and toe was all out of wack, but its within spec now.https://imgur.com/tAGsHjf

It'll be slow progress, but I've always got something going on. Have 12 square yards of mybecca black suede for the headliner and A and B pillars, and an LED interior lighting kit.

Well, it's time for a bit of an update for this. I recently drove the car on a 2,000 mile roundtrip road trip out to Pacific city, Portland, Vancouver WA, I didn't do as much car stuff as I would've hoped, but I did check out Xcessive Manufacturing

I got to go on a brief little tour around the shop yard, and check out a couple projects they had there, which was seriously cool.

Unfortunately Portland roads are subpar at best, so I didn't really have the opportunity for any shoots in town, plus I went with my girlfriend for our anniversary and didn't want to bail on her to go do car stuff the whole time. That being said I did get some decent shots on my phone, and still going through pictures on the camera to edit.

I'd like to note that the car didn't break down, and other than our spines feeling like they compressed the whole way out and back, it was relatively comfortable. So lets get into the pics.

After a 17 hour trip the first thing I needed to do was to give her a little rinse

After a little nap, we went from my buddy's place in portland we zipped out to Pacific City for a long weekend. This is the first Beach I've ever been to that you can drive on. So being super excited I immediately went down the ramp only to find a foot or so dropoff from the concrete ramp to the sand. Being an absolute dork, I grabbed some sand castle tools from the house, and got to work building a sand ramp, and completely blocking the ramp, which of course gathered a small crowd with people betting I'll never make it. But, alas I did, when I finally got down to the beach there was a very nice photographer on vacation who asked if he could snap a few pictures, of course I was thrilled and eagerly agreed.

and snapped a couple on my own

Upon my return home, I quickly realized the car wasn't nearly low enough, so I broke out the jack, and wound all the coils down, maxing them out, and obviously not going low enough (as you'll see) and finally got to install the Maxton Sideskirt Diffusers I ordered before I left.

The diffusers are about 2" from the ground, and my Ground-Fender now measures in at 23.25" roughly an inch and some change lower.

I've got some more things ordered to get the car a little further where I want it to be. Until then Stanceworks
