  • A yellow bmw

Here we are, been building this car for over 3 years now, and had a thread but stopped posting a while back.

Here is my Dakar Yellow E36, 2 door coupé slicktop. No power seats, no cruise control. Bare bone E36 M3.

Car currently has 106700 miles, got her at 96k miles.

Here is a list of the mods that came with the car :

    Max velocity front lip
    Euro headlights
    Fog deletes
    Mtech 2 steering wheel
    Akg rear camber arms
    Stud conversion
    Abrahams LTW wing
    Fortune 500 coilovers
AA track pipe, secation A and B
    Stromung exhaust
    Uuc evo 3 short shifter
    Akg dssr
    Zhp shift knob

Pics how I got it and how I kept it the first year :

First thing I did was get K1's

Winter time, car stored, maintenance time.

    Complete cooling system overhaul:

    Stewarts water pump
    Aluminium Rad
    Silicone hoses
    Mishimoto aluminium expansion tank
    Lightweight water pump pulley
    Spal electric fan conversion
    Low temp thermostat

Also rebuilt power steering pump while I was there.

And added a conforti intake with an ITG filter.

Next to the at the time winter beater :

Summer came and took the M3 out, next to the daily at that time.

    Interior pics :

Yet again another daily can be spotted in the background.

Last wash before storage and mods time !

    Tune
    Headers
    Both front wheel bearings
    Z3 rack
    Strip trunk + back
    Bucket seat for driver side

    Getting some work done.

    Z3 rack, quicker ratio.

Getting installed with new tir rods

Also installed a e34 solid steering coupler while I was there, original one was from rubber and was getting old.

    Front wheel bearings done.

Supersprint Header install was pretty easy, didn't have to raise engine, had enough space.

    Randomly acquired new wheels.

    Rays CE28's in 17x8.5 +40 square setup.

    Test fitting them.

    Powdercoat time

    Done

    RS3's mounted.

    Meaty.

    Aligned it.

    And drove it.

    Acquired a recaro spg

Video of how car sounds :

    Enjoying the car.

Brakes needed some love so upgraded to wilwood superlites on all 4 corners with hawk performance pads and motul 660 brake fluid.

    Installed, bedding time !

    E36 M3 + Dakaryellow + fatlip + LTW wing is like a perfect e36
Really like the wheel setup, not usually a fan of 17s on e36s but these fit really well, any problem with rubbing on rear fenders?

    Following for sure

E36 is 17's only, 18's are way to big.

I want to go and try my car on the track, but around here it's quite expensive. I mean 25-40$ for 20 min sessions seems like wasted money to me.

Very jealous of that black interior. Might be because it's 100% cleaner than my car

Part of me wishes I had pulled the trigger on a dakar coupe when I had the chance. Looks fantastic on the Volks, perfect functional fitment. What's your impression of the wilwood kit?

I love this car, if i was to build another e36 it would be pretty much the same route as this, built for purpose and for fun!

As above with the 17s, 18s have no place on an E36 (unless dropping to 16s on a compact lol). Love what you've done, I never liked K1s but the number of E36s a seen with these wheels over the years always put a downer on the car, but those Rays and proper Hankook race width tyres is exceptional, did you get covers for the passenger side skirts? Stunning car :-)

Thanks, yes I have side skirts covers, they are not in the picture because this was the first day I took the car out of storage and forgot to put them on.

I feel like going nuts and recreate this livery.

                              Thoughts ?
